Spooktacular Saturday

Sat 30 Oct
Report written by Jenni H

Northfields Allotments are the oldest in London and they needed our help with getting setting up for their first open day in 2 years!

There was plenty of pumpkins, lights and streamers to get out along the path at the back of the allotment, and Ben got in the spirit by accidentally coming dressed in pumpkin colours!

Their hard work paid off with the estimated 8000 visitors complementing their work and the allotment committee were very grateful for the help to make it a spooktacular event!

Helping set up for Northfields Allotment Halloween open day

Sat 30 Oct 10:00 am
End of Occupation Road/Radbourne Walk, Ealing, W13 9LE
Helping in the community

Northfields Allotments are hosting their first open day in almost 2 years and need some help in getting set up and cleaning up before they welcome visitors.

They need our help putting up decorations and doing a litter pick on Radbourne Walk, as it will be used as part of the one-way system for the day.

The allotments hold the open day to show off the wonders that are usually behind lock and key and are a great asset in our community!

Meet Jenni at the bottom of Radbourne Walk/Occupation Road and we'll make the area spooky!

Litter-ally trollied!

Tue 21 Sep
Report written by Jenni H

With the dark nights coming in, we met a bit earlier than usual for a litter pick around Ealing Broadway.

We split up into three picking crews and set to work, covering Haven Green and the surrounding streets and towards Walpole park.

The fantastic effort of the three teams got us three bags of litter in just 45 mins, leaving Ealing a little bit cleaner!

Ben, Milly and Mira certainly got the most interesting finds of the evening, coming across a shopping trolley and a post box taking a lie down!

We couldn't leave the evening without celebrating Mira reaching 50 good deeds! 🥳 Give her a cheer!

Caring for the trees in Elthorne Park + hilly run in the park!

Tue 24 Aug

This week we are meeting in Elthorne Park to help look after trees planted by Trees for Cities last year.

There will be a mix of jobs to do including watering, mulching and weeding.

Meeting point is Trumpers Way Bridge.

What do you need to take part?

You can come as you are but the following would really helpful for you to bring along too!

  • Please bring your own gloves (the gardening kind) - we have spares but it saves me washing them!
  • Hand sanitiser - always handy these days!
  • Long sleeves/trousers - will help ensure you're protected from stinging nettles
  • Water - for you to drink in case it's hot!

The run will be suitable for everyone with walking breaks if you need too! So if you’re new to running or a seasoned pro you’ll get a great workout!

If you don’t fancy running please meet at the same point at 7:15pm instead :)
