Woking junior parkrun #315 โ Sunday 3rd August 2025
What a glorious morning it was for Woking junior parkrun this Sunday! The sun was shining, the skies were clear, and the park was buzzing with energy and excitement as our young runners gathered for event number 315.
We had some fantastic performances on the course this week. Huge congratulations to Marilyn, our first female finisher, who crossed the line in an impressive 7:26, and to Oliver, the first male finisher, coming in close behind at 7:48. Brilliant running from both!
Of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers โ all 33 of them this week! A special shout-out goes to the fantastic team from GoodGym, who came out in force to support the event.
James and Melanie kept spirits high on the course as marshals
Adam was on barcode scanning duties with a smile
Katie and Phil took charge of timekeeping, making sure every finish time was recorded perfectly
A big thank you to all our volunteers โ whether you're clapping, cheering, timing, scanning or tail walking, you make this event the highlight of the week for so many young runners.
See you next Sunday for more fun, fitness and community

*Alpine Loop Hill Training ๐โโ๏ธ *
Big welcome to Robert who attended his first GG session, and what a session to attend ๐คฃ
A superb turn out from Woking GoodGym for a hill training session. I'm sure we would have changed our minds if we knew what we had in store. Wayne told us there were only a few hills but I counted at least 27. Up was hard going in the warm evening and on the gravel but going down was even worse๐ฉ . There was a lot more walking than running, at least from me, but I think we were all glad to take a break to avoid the army trucks doing their driving training ๐. We happily welcomed Robert to his first session with us and what a one to pick! Thank you to Anne for caring for everyone on the downhill ๐ปsections and go Wayne for not getting us lost. Nadia did a great job with the warm up, safety briefing and keeping everyone together. ๐ชพ Well done to Katie, Alys, Melanie, Julie and Andy too for conquering the hills in good spirits. ๐ณThe company certainly made the hills more bearable. Lastly, a thank you to Julie for the puns in the report title.

There was a great turnout this evening for some litter picking around the streets of Woking. ๐ฎ
Upon everybodyโs prompt arrival, and a brief chat, Anne uncovered the brand new litter pickers which everyone got very excited about.๐
Then, passing the adventure park, the team noticed a lot of litter so in they went, but not to play! ๐
The group turned off out of Woking Park and carried on up White Rose Lane then ended up at the central flats.
High up on the tally seemed to be beer cans, beer caps, and cigarette butts, so it was a good thing to remove these things which impact our environment and wildlife. Great job team!
The ladies finished off with a gentle run back to the park and finally bade their farewells for the night leaving Woking a cleaner place.
After all, we don't mess about!
