*Woking Junior Park Run Olympic Day *
This morning it was Olympic day at junior park run. And you can not have an Olympic day without an Olympian. This morning we we had Former 2012 British Fencing Olympian Corinna Lawrence ๐คบ
As well as Corinna we had out goodgym hero's Wayne, Anne, Adam, James, Melanie, and Olalekan.
With the Olympic theme ๐ Olympic coloured bands were handed out to the young runners who had reached their running milestones. It was great hearing from Corinna about her Olympic journey and how she got into fencing.
Wayne, Anne, and Melanie were marshals out on the 2k course cheering and encouraging the runners around. Olalekan had the important task of being the barcode scanner, while Adam and James were responsible for putting the equipment away at the end.
There was a great turn out this morning with 163 runners taking part with the fastest time being an impressive 07: 31. There were also 58 PB's fantastic running by everyone ๐

Woking Junior Park Run
You never quite know what the British weather will bring on a Sunday morning at parkrun! Today, woolly hats were swapped for hot and humid conditions. A brilliant 136 juniors completed the course, supported by 28 wonderful volunteers, including 2 GoodGymers. Karen also brought her friend Steve along again for his 3rd parkrun. A fun morning all round, and congratulations to all the dads spending Fatherโs Day supporting their kids!

The turnout at Woking Junior Parkrun was astounding as per usual!! Wayne, Mel, Ola and Luan were the GoodGym marshals for the morning.
Writing the report I tried to get the stats for the event but, today everyone was pretty chilled at the end so there was no prize giving as there have been other times.
The kids are so cool at Junior Parkrun and a couple of them high fived me as they ran past, OMG they are cute! Usually I personally try to be as encouraging as possible and cheer them on as they passโฆ
They all did so well to run their 2k around the park!
Awesome :-)

What a spectacular event which brings the running community of Surrey together each year with an opportunity to run a half marathon, 5k or vounteer, including a kids race.
The morning started rather fresh but the sun burst through the clouds to brighten up the day for the runners and the many supporters along the route.
Woking GoodGym were out in force with Anne deserving a gold medal for all the medals she handed out to the finishers. It is always a joy to see Anne as you cross the finish line. James ran with Woking AC and smashed a finishing time of 1:36:51.
Adam managed to crack the sub 2hrs that many runners aspire to with a finish time of 1:57:22.
Melanie did a great job cheering all the way around and finishing in 2:09:25 closely followed by
Rebecca at 2:11:10. A big thank you to Maya for cheering us along for the final push with 1.5k to go. Another thank you to the spectators, especially all the funny signs, the scouts for operating the water/fuel stations and the Woking litter picking warriors who make the most of the closed road event to help clean up the community.
A wonderful day all round. Same again next year?!
