Watering 10th Portsmouth Squirrels' community garden - anytime

Fri 22 Jul 18:30 pm
The Gibson Centre , Sackville Street, Portsmouth , PO5 4BU
Keeping the plants alive to help young people to learn about nature as well as attracting nature to the area

This mission is for ANYTIME you can make it.

The squirrels have just planted potatoes and lettuces in their new community garden. They only meet on Mondays and in this hotter weather the plants will need watering between these intervals. Just pop in, fill the watering can up from the water butt and water the planters. When you sign up I can send you photos to show exactly where to go and what to do. The garden gate is never locked so you could do this on an early morning run, afternoon cycle or post work amble - whenever suits. Take a selfie and send it to me please!

Squirreling the rubbish and Beavering away in the garden

Sun 19 Jun
Report written by Katie London

4 Sunday Goodgymers walked, cycled and ran to the Gibson Centre to help the 10th Portsmouth Squirrels create their community garden. . Lynn and Nick achieved their construction badges whilst Aoife wielded her spade to clear the thistles and make the area safe for little people. Nick and I litter picked the area too. Fun was had and Lynn's botanical knowledge was much admired!

Good day for a good deed

Sun 8 May
Report written by Katie Carew-Robinson

In true GoodGym style, we had mid party good deed.

While Mel, Tony and I did the washing up (with a very questionable tea towel), everyone else got out into the sunshine and undertook a litter pick around the park.

Extra marks to Dr Jo, Rosie and Maxine for doing this while carrying babies (in both senses of the word).

Recycling was collected and kept to be put into Vicki and John's green bin. The usual suspects of wrappers, packets and cigarettes were found plus a sad purple deflated ball and a tin of butane gas (useful for camping!).

Once the good deeds were completed, we reconvened for Mel's quiz.

Happy 4th birthday to us!

We took over Milton Village Hall to celebrate 4 years of GoodGym Portsmouth.

We welcomed the next generation of GoodGymers, we ate lots of food and Mel gave our brains a workout with a quiz. Rachel got her new T-Shirt and we all went home with sugar highs!!
