Busloads of fun!

Portsmouth Report written by Julie Blake

This ambitious task involved getting hundreds of kids off and back onto coaches to help achieve a Guinness World Record for the world's largest reading lesson at Portsmouth Football Club stadium.

We got to use our loudest shouting voices and pointing skills and directed traffic along a very busy Rodney Road, but all for a very good cause: learning to read.

There was a lot of fancy dress, but special shout out to Jen for having the best rainbow heart earrings in the whole group.

Sunny Picks

Portsmouth Report written by Dave M

The sun had come out to illuminate all the rubbish strewn across the rec this morning.

Dave and JB had a good catch up whilst doing a picking loop of the park. Even being called legends by a passer by.

No amazing finds sadly apart from a pair of discarded goalie gloves. I guess they had conceded too many!!

Having a ball at the North Pole!

Portsmouth Report written by Julie Blake

Admittedly, our volunteers were perhaps a little too short to assemble the ten foot poles at today’s task but it sure didn’t stop us from trying!!

In between various attempts to balance the heavy metal poles on ladders, our heads, and arms, we took a few breaks to practise our swing and hit some balls.

The task basically turned into a huge panic room style game of pick up sticks, and Batter Up owner Anna made sure we had a few mince pies to go along with the festive fun and games.

If at first you don’t succeed to assemble a batting cage, try, try again…? We’ll be back in 2026!

Rooting around in Southsea.

Portsmouth Report written by Julie Blake

Today's gardening task was a big one! It was WOMAN vs. WEEDS, and I think it's safe to say that they'd been there a while...

Approximately 30 potted plants were also tidied up, lots of soggy rubbish removed, rampant vines cut back, a tidy garden tool basket created, and 2 bags of garden pebbles distributed as ground cover.

After the transformation, Mrs. F joined me on the garden stoop to admire the result which was a nice reward in itself to see.
