Shingle lickin' good

Worthing Report written by JULIA GLEESON

A warm welcome to GoodGym Worthing

It was a delight to welcome you all to GoodGym tonight . Special mention goes to our new recruit Anna who joined us for her first ever GG task and group run.I was also really pleased to see Sue return for week 2 together with our trusty regulars Gill, Belinda Roisin, Beth, Michelle , Duncan and Nick. Please look out for a big GG cheer coming your way.

Pier pressure

Nick led the warm up to the pier and round it ! Check out your strava and see how you walked / ran on water tonight. Gill and Nick also paused to stop and have a photo oppportunity in the new stain glassed window on the pier.

Anchors away

We had a warm and incredibly happy welcome from the friends of Anchor Gardens Frieda , Jillie and Steve together with park ranger Keith , who , between the 4 of them organised the 'where and whens' of the task. We split the group into 3 groups of

  • Weed prune and define the shrubs (Gill , Sue, Roisin and Anna )
  • Shingle shovelers from the lorry (Nick and Belinda)
  • Shingle shuttles in the wheelbarrow (Michelle , Duncan ,Beth )

Between them, my trusty group shifted and raked 1 ton of shingle . An epic achievement to feel very proud to be a part of.

Water and a wave

With a few photos ,some much appreciated water provided by Gillie and many expressions of thanks from the Friends of Anchor Gardens the group waved goodbye and headed off towards Brooklands . It was an out and back along the prom ,around the lake and finishing in Beach House grounds.

Buddy burpees

We finished the session with a fitness session comprising of some sprints together with a buddy pyramid circuit which included a combination of cardio and strength exercises. Duncan and Nick managed to win by the skin of their teeth . Enjoy the glory as they may not be so lucky next time :)

Hospice helpers make flower beds good enough to lie in

Worthing Report written by JULIA GLEESON

Keeping the sunny in Sunny Worthing

Tonight we headed back to St Barnabas to tidy up the flower beds and prune the trees in the car park which are difficult to reach within business hours.

After a hot warm up run to the task, my trusty regular team armed with tools set to work on the task. Nick opted for the high road, Gill and Belinda the low road whilst Beth got lost in the middle somewhere. Can you spot her in the 'Find the Beth photo?!'

Roses are red , violets are blue, hospice loves helpers and GoodGym does too!

With the work rate faster than the speed of light we hardly had time to make a wish before it was time to clear up and take the steamy run back to our 'one night only' base at Worthing Leisure Centre.

Its a RUNderful life

A quick flick around the track as a warm down and it was another fond farewell from the GoodGym team.

Ed has done their first race with GoodGym. Performing on the day is a lot of pressure; Ed's dealt with the nerves and turned up on the day to make it happen.

to Creos or not to Creos...

Haringey Report written by Peter Van Tongeren

Arriving on site it seemed the other GoodGymmer who signed up had to pull out, leaving just me to represent the #RedArmy. Dropping the contact Glenys a message to let her know I arrived I wandered around the meadow to admire the surroundings, until Glenys rang back, slightly confused... it turned out this mission was rescheduled a few weeks ago! She kindly offered to drop what she was doing and come down to get some work done, but I couldn't ask her to disrupt her day like that so politely declined. Instead I cleared up the rubbish I noticed lying around before dropping by Alexandra Park for a little exploring run there.

Who knows, next time more luck..... :-)
