Disaster struck when a GoodGymer arrived ready to volunteer at South Norwood Country parkrun, only to discover the event had been parked due to TfL works in the car park! With volunteer points hanging in the balance and no time for a cool-down, they launched into a GoodGym-powered emergency transfer, sprinting across borough lines to Crystal Palace parkrun. There, organisers were facing a parkwalk crisis, with only a tail walker standing between order and complete parkrun mayhem. Our hero stepped in just in time, saving the day one encouraging stroll at a time. What began as a cancellation catastrophe turned into a personal best volunteering success, proving that when one parkrun closes, another opens its arms and says, "Have you got a high-vis vest?"

Despite the pouring rain, two Goodgymers braved the wet weather to help out at the Vauxhall Gardens Community Centre foodbank. Rain or shine, our commitment to community doesn't stop! Spirits remained high, especially when we met a customer rocking the ultimate waterproof setup, complete with a brilliant, handmade newspaper hat. A wonderful reminder that a bit of imagination and resourcefulness can brighten even the gloomiest Friday afternoon.

Returning for another weekly shift at Merton’s Community Fridge, we backed up the distribution team at the end of a busy session by wiping down the space, sorting the recycling, and resetting the area for next time. To top off a productive wrap-up, we rescued excess bread and pastries from going to waste, keeping good food in circulation and taking home a well-earned perk.
