Front garden renovation at John Grooms Court

Mon 17 May 18:00 pm
John Grooms Court, 215 Sprowston Road, Norwich, NR3 4HX
With the garden renovated it will be a transformation into a garden that is a pleasure to look at, improving individuals well being

The front garden needs attention, it is only a small walled area across the front of John Grooms Court, but is not very appealing at the moment. The garden needs to be planned with some thought and a creative touch to bring it to life with new plants and an inviting, welcoming look to it.

The front garden is open to the public area, which is uncontrolled.

Bins will be provided for waste.

With the garden renovated it will be a transformation into a garden that is a pleasure to look at, improving individuals well being, especially those who look out onto it. The front is right onto the busy Sprowston Road where people also wait for the bus, so the community will be able to appreciate the garden too.

Meet at John Grooms Court at 6pm. Please bring your own gloves.

'Nourish' starts to flourish 🍲

Fri 30 Apr
Report written by Melanie

What an amazing experience volunteering for 'Nourish', a new food provision service for verified rough sleepers provided by The Feed through the Pathways scheme in Norwich.

It provides food, support and signposting within a safe, indoor environment and started this week!

There were four Goodgymers volunteering last night including Lucy and Andrea from The Feed, along with Andy and myself. We joined another volunteer and learned the ropes for our first Friday shift.

The Feed provided great training and it was such a supportive environment.

We had busy shift with beef or vegetable bolognese along with teas, coffees, pastries and shortbread which proved very popular.

It was good to chat to the clients and provide warm food and drink in a safe space for them 🍲

A fresh Colegate evening, No toothpaste just good pace

Wed 21 Apr
Report written by Melanie

Possibly the punultimate group delivery of covid response postcards for Fine City Neighbours!

Andy, Darren, Elizabeth, Fraser, Steve and myself were tonight delivering in and around the historical Colegate area of Norwich. Some of the beautiful buildings round there date back to the 17th century.

Elizabeth guided us to the different locations and Andy was chief photographer.

*Disclaimer : Title pun provided by Darren Watkins 😄

Play your cards right

Mon 19 Apr
Report written by Steven Hitcham

It was great to see a couple of faces I hadn’t seen for several months and also a big welcome to Matt who was taking part in his first GoodGym good deed.

We split into three groups, with a set of streets allocated to each group. Stephen and Matt had the longest route, myself and Rory did the shortest one (followed by fish and chips) and Elizabeth, Penny, Mark, Andy and Liz did the other route.

It was a lovely sunny evening and group to be outside.

We made big in roads this evening and at getting there with the postcards.

Fine City Neighbours postcard delivery - Norwich Covid Response

Wed 21 Apr 17:30 pm
The Forum, Millennium Plain, Norwich, NR2 1TF
It will help inspire them to connect with their neighbours and understand where they can access support and inspiration to do so.

GoodGym Norwich have teamed up with the Fine City Neighbours project and we have 20,000 postcards that need delivering to people's homes.

These tasks will take place Monday and Wednesday evenings and we are now focusing on the Central Norwich area.

You'll collect postcards from Hitch or a Task Force member outside The Forum anytime between 5.30-6pm, where you'll be allocated a street or number of streets from our list and then run/walk/cycle to that location to deliver postcards through people's letterboxes.

It shouldn't take no more than 1 hour from the time you set off to deliver the postcards allocated to you. Once you've delivered them you can go straight home, you don't need to return to The Forum.

There should be no need to make contact with people in their homes, but if someone does open their door while you are making a delivery, remember to maintain a 2m distance while speaking with them.

This task should be done within the rule of 6, while keeping 2m apart as per government advice. You'll be grouped upon arrival at The Forum.

We recommend you wear some form of high-vis clothing.
