DRIVERS, CYCLISTS AND WALKERS NEEDED! Deliver essential food for EAP across Ealing this week!

Thu 21 Jan

Ealing Alternative Provision provides education for young people who are unable to follow their education in the mainstream setting. They are supporting a few local families with food parcels and are looking for volunteers to help deliver them on Thursday lunchtimes.

Please note: They are working with The William Hobbayne Charity to sort and supply the food so parcels will be collected from there and NOT the school

This Thursday they have 11 families that need delivering and we need as many people as possible to help out

Option 1: 1.6 miles - drop off near Hanwell Community Centre to a family of 5 - Ideally three walkers / cyclists working together

Option 2: 1.4 miles - drop off near Hanwell Community Centre to a family of 4 - Ideally two walkers / cyclists working together

Option 3: 4.2 miles - drop off near Cayton Green Park (Greenford) to a family of 4 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Option 4: 4.2 miles - drop off near Rectory Park to a family of 5 - Ideally three cyclists working together or a driver

Option 5: 3.7 miles - drop off near Northala Fields to a family of 3 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Option 11: 4.6 miles - drop off near Acton Park to a family of 4 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Once you've signed up please comment below which parcel(s) you are able to deliver, if you can be flexible that would be amazing! Please only sign up if you can commit to one of the above locations.

Instructions:

  • Parcels should be collected from The William Hobbayne Centre on Boston Road between 12pm and 1:30pm

  • June will be there to meet you

  • You'll be given the confidential full address of the family to deliver to, please let them know which option you have signed up for

  • You'll then head out and drop off the parcels at the doorstep of the address you've been given and knock to ensure the family know that the parcel has arrived

  • Any problems with deliveries call the school 0208 991 8570 or contact Ellen on 07908170934

The parcels are quite large make sure you're happy to carry the items and definitely bring a big large rucksack to carry them, especially if you're cycling.

Any questions, drop me an email to olivia@goodgym.org

Once we have the right number of sign ups, I'll send you a confirmation email.

Going out to help out

Sat 16 Jan 12:00 pm
Anywhere You May Be, In The World, BHA PPY
Taking in some local highlights and getting some fresh air

Throughout January, we've been challenged to complete as many kilometers as possible, so to get you out and about, we've created a scavenger hunt! You can do this anywhere, you don't have to be in Ealing, and you can do it all at once or in as many trips as you like during the first two weeks of January, just do what you can by Saturday 16th Jan (keep your eyes peeled for part 2 for the second half of the month!).

The places you should visit, and snap a selfie at are;

  • Your favourite local pub

  • A cinema/theatre

  • A medical centre (hospital, doctors etc)

  • A non-essential, and non-chain shop

  • Your favourite local restaurant

  • A river, lake or canal

  • Complete a lap of your local park

  • The foodbank, or a drop off point in a supermarket

  • A church/temple/mosque/synagogue/place of worship

  • Your local coffee shop

  • A gym/swimming pool

  • Complete a loop of a cul-de-sac

  • A postbox/post office

  • A Christmas tree outdoors

  • The view from the top of a hill

Don't forget to track your journey (and link your Strava to your GoodGym profile!) to add to our area's total distance covered.

Please send any photos to Jenni at jenni@goodgym.org for the report, and enjoy the great outdoors safely!
