Report written by Sophie McClellan
4 Goodgymmers ran the 2km from Hope street to Greenleaf street where we were met by 3 more goodgymmers who had walked/ran their own way there, and a whole host of volunteers from Litter Clear Volunteer. They have been working on this patch of land for the past six weeks with the aim of making it a nicer green space for the community to use.
Our task was to paint the three benches and the bin, as well as clearing rubble and flattening an old planter.
We made quick work of it, with the help of several of the local children. We just hope they didn't get the chance to trick someone into sitting on the wet benches once we'd left!
It is clearly a well used community space and a number of residents commented on how much better it was looking as they were walking past. We even managed to grab the attention of Mersey Fire & Rescue who popped by to see what we were up to.
A special shout out goes to Bekah who has now completed 10 good deeds, and to Jake who is not far behind on 5!
All in all, an evening well spent; a much improved space for the local community and a great opportunity to connect with some like minded volunteers. Well done everyone!
