Summer Loving

Another Monday and another beautiful evening by the sea It was a great turn out this evening and a delight to welcome 11 GG regular runners . In old school register order Anne, Barbara, Belinda, Gill, Michelle, Nick , Paul, Roxy , Sue and Tamsin.

After some lively chatter we set off on a beautiful warm up run around the pier before heading back and beyond our start point along the promenade to just opposite Anchor Gardens where we embarked on a garden makeover.

This was challenging because of the drought induced rock solid earth. However with the help of a large pick axe from Nick's extensive tool collection he and Paul managed to break down the earth in true manly style and not without the odd eyebrow raising and humorous innuendo's.

Leave no stone unturned

With the boys occupied in the rockery the girls piled in to the weeding, pruning and hoeing. Gill with the trusty secateurs, Michelle with the long handled pruners, Sue with the hoe and Anne, Barbara, Roxy and Tamsin on their knees weeding.

30 minutes later and the garden was virtually unrecognisable with the rockery remodelled , ship shape shrubs and beds and not a weed left on site. With grateful thanks and a number of photos we packed away our gear back in the car and headed for the seafront.

These hips were made for hooping

Not wanting to be left out I had also brought one of my very own tools of the trade, a weighted powerhoop which is a fun way to work the hips and waist . Some lively entertainment and a first for GG worthing participants which was liked by some more than others! Belinda has stashed the hoop in her garage for further practice. The powerhoop will return !

Run like the wind

After waving goodbye to Gill and Paul the rest of the group headed off on a run along to Brooklands lake and park . Front runners did an extra loop which was well marshalled by Belinda on her bike before picking up the rest of the group with a refreshing push against the breeze back along the seafront where we all convened at the outside gym for a choice of strength work or burpee challenge.

Next week we are meeting at Worthing Leisure Centre as we are heading back to Kamelia Kids special needs day nursery in Goring. We will then down towards the greensward for a run and energising fitness session.

Have a great week everyone. Dont forget our social on Wednesday 8th August. Venue still tbc.

Sending lots of GG love

Julia :)

I love the concept of getting physically and mentally fit whilst combining it with helping others. I run most days.
