Wow - GoodGymers certainly rose to the challenge this weekend and cycled some great distances, despite the biting cold weather!

There were a number of variations on the Portsea island circuit.

Jo Cooke attempted to cycle around the island but managed 21km before she had to take a diversion due to a Police blockade (?!)

The round-the-island veterans, Maura & Mel, completed another loop (31km and 28km, respectively) and took in some Old Portsmouth sights.

But Laura wins my award for determined self-motivation, by getting up early on Saturday morning to complete her first ever cycling lap (29km) of Portsea island!

Sinead cycled 18km into the biting wind on her route along Southsea seafront and around Old Portsmouth and coincidentally Kat covered a similar seafront route, also 18km, although that is according to her dodgy Strava map, which tried to convince her that she had cycled right into the Solent!

There was a tie for the longest distance cycled over the weekend...

Katie & Sam headed off-island in an easterly direction, with a chilly 34km ride along the top of Langstone harbour and all the way to Southbourne, although Covid rules meant they couldn't invite themselves for a cup of tea with either me or Val! But they did see an impressive sunset at the end of the afternoon.

And Rachel & India headed west, also cycling 34km in the biting cold, taking the Gosport ferry and cycling through Gosport, to Lee on Solent and Stubbington.

I covered 22km on a Hayling circuit to incorporate a beach clean.

And our virtual GoodGym tourist was Pauline from GG Liverpool, who unfortunately took a tumble from her bike within the first 2 minutes of her ride. But she got back in the saddle and completed her shopping AND a litter-pick at the Town Park. Pauline wins the prize for the unusual photos in this report - a dry ski slope and a miniature railway!

I think everyone enjoyed a different way to get out and exercise in the winter air and to contribute to the GG January challenge.
