LinkAge Plus Project
LinkAge Plus is an innovative for people aged 50+ living in Tower Hamlets. We work with people isolated and vulnerable adults to improve their well being and increase their social networks and opportunities. We offer one to one support, benefits advice. We deliver a weekly activities on site and off site. These include IT, Exercise, Film club, darts, coffee mornings, trips and more.

Background

Lindsey from St Hilda's was in touch last week to explain the following, “As things have slowly been returning to the new normal for many of us, there are still some members of the community struggling, so we try to make it a little easier for them by delivering a lunch to them.

This may be a lovely vegetarian wrap or a pretty rainbow salad (we always send a little treat for them, too, because lunch isn't lunch without a treat)."

What GoodGymers say about this flexible summer lunchtime activity

  • "As usual, food parcels were already packed, grouped and labelled at Sonali Gardens centre where I was greeted/welcomed with big smile!", writes a regular of this Community Mission, Ceiling.

  • "I had such a nice long chat to an appreciative resident!", wrote a nicely-surprised Alex.

What’s involved:

• We are looking for up to 7 GoodGymers to meet at the pick up point (St Hilda's East Community Centre ,18 Club Row London E2 7EY ) at anytime between 11.00 and 12.30 and each grab 2-4 parcels each (whatever you can manage).

• The parcels will be packed in a bag, with individual delivery addresses. These will be grouped into 2-3 bags with addresses closest to one another, all in neighbouring area.

On arrival at the Community Mission:

• When you arrive, please let them know you're from GoodGym and here to deliver parcels for Lindsey.

• The mission ideally involves carrying 2-4 bags to a destination within the E2 & E3 area. You can run, walk or cycle - do consider bringing a backpack if you're cycling.

SUPPORT

Any problems and organiser Lindsey Gibson is happy to help out! Just ask for Lindsey on arrival, who'll be able to answer any queries. Or if you have any issues when you're out and about, the St Hilda's team are always on hand to help you: 020 7739 8066

I will not be present at this Community Mission, but I am leading it, and have overall responsibility for it, so if any problems or questions arise, and you need any support, don't hesitate to contact me. Laura
