River Run Raid: GoodGym X RSC Great River Clean Up
Join the River Stewardship Company, GoodGym and ShAFF for a mass clean up event on the banks of the river Don. Hundreds of people use the river every day for commuting or fitting in a lunchtime jog, and we'd like to encourage this active use by keeping it free of plastic and rubbish. River Stewardship Company runs regular volunteer cleanups on the river to help control flooding and keep the area clear for both people and wildlife.

Please note that this group run has been cancelled.

Join Goodgym for a run to Bailey Bridge on Effingham Street where we will be helping out at River Stewardship Company's Active River Clean Up event on the banks of the River Don. We will be running to Bailey Bridge, Effingham Street, S4 7YA.

This section of the river is used daily by hundreds of people for their regular run, cycle or commute.

It also supports a host of wildlife species including otter and kingfisher.

We will be clearing litter and debris from various points in the river.

Removing litter and debris will help to prevent flooding which can have an enormous impact on local residents and businesses.

If possible please bring some sturdy boots to work on the canal with you (ideally in a rucksack, so you can run in your trainers) and dress for the task!

The riverbank can be uneven and there may be sharps and trip hazards. RSC will provide protective equipment but runners would be best wearing sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for the outdoors. The main site is also accessed by descending a ladder. However, RSC will have an option for people to access the river without ladder access should they prefer.

For more info re the clean up drop the RSC a message at: riverlution@the-rsc.co.uk

Group run cancellation

Following extensive research, consultation with our trustees and work on how GoodGym as a community can play a positive role during the Coronavirus outbreak we have reached the conclusion to make extensive changes to our operations.

**All group runs will stop for the foreseeable future**

This decision has been made as these are the events at which most people gather and at which we are most at risk of spreading infection.

We will continue to update this page with our most up to date guidance:
