17 of us gathered last night for a splendid two-task session at Hollybush Gardens. The aim was to help Task Owners Margaret and Michael clear up and so some weeding in the family area, and put up netting panels around the fence as a replacement for the bordering bushes that were recently removed.

And so we split into three groups. While the first one started to clear up brambles, litter and dead leaves on the east side of the family area, the second one was busy doing some weeding in the west corner. The main task was carried out by the third group, who were given heavy rolls of green netting panels to be meticulously cut to fit the fence. Armed with rulers, duct tape and questionable scissors, a couple of us measured, marked and cut the nets while the rest put the freshly cut nets up on the fence for maximum privacy when the children come to play in the area.

In under an hour, the family area was free from brambles and weeds and looking as safe as could be for children, about 12 double-layered nets had been cut and two more nets were successfully put up on the fence. A lot more work will be needed to cover the whole fence but this is a matter for another evening session!

Special shout out to Bryon who owns the copyright to this task’s pun! Thank you Bryon!

What’s next?

This week will be a busy week for GoodGym Tower Hamlets:

On Wednesday evening, a handful of us will be helping spruce up the Canal Club Community Garden and we’ll be back to all-time favourite Stepney City Farm, led by Legendary Tracy and Rising Task Force Superstar Alex.

Finally on Saturday afternoon I will be leading a brand new gardening task at St Paul's Shadwell for the Tabard Growers (sign up here).

Looking forward to seeing you there!

I LOVE this report, Isabelle. Massive well done, and for a great Bank Holiday evening. And for this pun. Possibly the best ever.
