This volunteer-run project is transforming the Meadow Lane playground into a nature-inspired play space for children, families and the wider community. Working in partnership with Oxford City Council and informed by local consultation, we’re enhancing the existing play area with natural features that support wildlife, encourage active outdoor play, and create welcoming spaces for all ages. Practical tasks include digging, moving soil, planting hedges and wildflowers, and cutting back old mesh fencing as we begin turning the newly opened area into forest-school play zones and wildlife-friendly habitat. Following the amazing start of the NaturEscape transformation project on 28th Feb (thanks to GoodGymers!), we are now looking to progress things at the Meadow Lane playground.

The mesh fencing needs to be cut back with bolt cutters (and spiky ends hammered into the tree). Eventually this will allow children to then run freely between the trees again and open up play space. Another task will be to go into the nearby wooded area of the recreation grounds to collect branches and logs to bring back to the playground to build a den for the kids.

Please bring gardening gloves and a head torch. Tools will be provided.

Please meet at the Meadow Lane playground at 6pm. There will be a run after the task for those who would like to stretch their legs.
