The work you will be doing today will add variety to the habitat to encourage biodiversity including wildflowers, bees, lichens and butterflies. One lichen clinging on in two small patches is found nowhere else in London (we'll see this on the day)! Tasks will include: sawing, lopping, pruning, moving cuttings to the collection point, using a mattock or fork to dig out invasive saplings, creating scalloped areas in the brambles/gorse and litter picking. Something for everyone!

Gardening gloves/tools are provided but if you have your own that would be helpful. Please bring suitable warm clothing you don't mind using for this kind of work, sturdy footwear and any equipment you would like to bring (make sure you have marked it with your name or another way to recognise it). It should be a fun event with lovely people.

This work is in conjunction with Friends of Westcombe Woodlands and Royal Borough of Greenwich Council, with help from members of Butterfly Conservation Kent branch.

Your contact for the day will be Joe Beale.

Meeting Point

This will be taking place on Saturday February 29th from 10am-1pm. You don't have to stay for the full 3 hours, you can drop in for however long you can help for, it is all appreciated! The meeting point is at Vanbrugh Pits, at the section closest to Greenwich Park's wall, between Vanbrugh Park and Maze Hill SE3 -in view of the Parkside flats.
