Rose Hill and Iffley Low Carbon group is planning to plant a community orchard and I wonder if members of the Good Gym or others would be interested in planting a tree when we plant our community orchard? We're planning this for Saturday 30th January from 11 am to 1 pm. We're inviting various community groups like the youth clubs, social club, Nepali Association, Silver Threads, football teams and churches to plant a tree each and then to water it in dry spells. We've had a grant to buy quite expensive, high quality trees and they will need care for the first three or four years.

We're planning to plant the trees between the school and Recreation Ground - mainly on that fenced off patch of grass behind the Children's Centre where the saplings will be relatively protected from vandalism and stray footballs.

It would be great if a small number of your group could be there. We'll get some of our younger volunteers to dig the holes in advance so it shouldn't damage your backs. It will be a socially distanced event - the trees will be at least 3 m apart - and we'll ask everyone to wear a mask.

We're also hoping to have a litter pick on the same day.

How are you getting there?

Unfortunately, the lockdown measures just announced mean that this Community Mission can no longer go ahead. Apologies.
