Do they know it's GoodGym time at all!?

A chilly night in Ealing saw 14 runners come out to support The Log Cabin by helping them tidy their play area to make it safer for the children to enjoy!

Notable runs!

  • Big congratulations to Larissa for completing her 50th good deed last night!

  • Madiha joined us for her first GoodGym run, big welcome to her!

  • Happy Birthday to Michael and thank you for back marking us on the way to the task last night!

  • Well done to Jenni for being the first to take up the walking option on these Tuesday group runs in Ealing. It’s something we’ll always try to offer on shorter group runs so if you’re injured, new to running, building back up again or simply just want to walk watch out for these options!

We started with a round up of names and favourite things about December, lots of you loving the extra time off and excuse to eat more food and drink more booze than usual. Good thing you can run it all off at GoodGym and with that to the task we went!

The Log Cabin Charity in Northfields provides a setting where children and young people with additional needs or disabilities can socialise, grow and have fun alongside their peers. It’s a charity we support regularly throughout the year by helping them with tasks that might otherwise struggle to get done, the tasks we help complete outside means the staff can focus their attention on other important things inside!

We had lots of tasks to complete so we wasted no time in getting started. We had three main things to complete, moving a big pile of wood, raking and refilling the sand pit and sweeping as many of the slippery leaves from the playground as we could!

We quickly split ourselves up into little groups of sweepers, lifters and rakers all working hard throughout the time we had. As soon as one person was done they’d start helping another person with their task and it was long before it was all hands on deck in the sand pit!

It was the pits!

The hardest task of the night was definitely getting that sand out and spread in the pit. I think we all underestimated how heavy a (wet!) bag of sand is! But with everyone mucking in at the end we got it all done and then it was just a matter of making sure we’d collected all the lead piles and packed the tools away.

To celebrate the birthday and 50th celebrations we thought we’d make quick use of the playground for what it’s made for... playing! With a few balloons we tried to play a group game of keep ups, trying to keep them up in the air without touching the ground and I can honestly say it was an epic fail! However it’s amazing how much joy a group of adults can get out of such a silly game on a cold wet Tuesday evening in December!

Thank you to everyone for coming out tonight and hopefully see you all next time!
