Mercato MetropolitanoPlease note that this community mission has been cancelled.
Mercato Metropolitano near Elephant & Castle is probably best known as a great date venue or hang out spot with friends with its diverse food court, however, they have a "giving back to the community" angle to their business. "MM in the Community" are organizing a programme of activities for the local children during the Christmas break. This includes cooking classes, arts and crafts and theatre workshops.
The classes will be attended by 20 kids (over a two day cycle - new set of 20 kids every two days). The sessions will be run by professionals. However, they would love our support to oversee the activities, look after the children, serve lunch and other small tasks. They would need 2-3 volunteers for this. Please sign-up, if you can commit.
The two day programme is as following:
Day 1 (10:30-13:00): Cooking class and lunch
Day 2 (10:30-15:00): Arts & Crafts, Lunch and Theatre workshop - This listing

The first four days of the Winter Camp have passed and it was successful with 9-16 kids showing up on various days. They baked Christmas cookies, created Christmas decorations and acted/sang "Santa Claus is coming to town" (Michael Buble version).
Despite having these sessions in an outdoor, but covered space, the organisers thought it best to cancel the last two days of their Winter Camp as the situation with Omicron worsens, especially in London.
If you still like to get involved with GoodGym over the festive break, there are a few outdoor and essential indoor tasks happening after Christmas. However, if you feel you rather stay at home, please do so. Only feel comfortable with what you would like to do!
Stay safe, have a Merry Christmas and see you in the new year!
