Who this task will support
Epping Forest Heritage Trust
The trust operates across the whole of Epping Forest, covering 6,000 acres stretching from Manor Park in East London to Epping in Essex. Their work is to stand up for this wonderful ancient Forest and inspire everyone to do the same. The trust has regular guided walk programmes to help people to get to know Epping Forest, and they operate the Epping Forest Visitor Centre at High Beach on behalf of City of London Corporation (the Conservators). The trust also helps to increase the biodiversity of the Forest through hands-on conservation work, campaigns to raise awareness of the Forest and advocate at planning enquiries to ensure it does not suffer direct damage from more development, traffic or pollution.

Meet at the location for 11:45am OR Theydon Bois station at 11am. The spot where we will be working will be 40 minutes walk from Theydon Bois station. What3words location to be provided soon.

We will be met at the site by task owner, Robyn who is Conservation Office at Epping Forest Heritage Trust. The task will be to clear away some Bracken in ancient heathland as this is currently preventing anything else from growing in the area. This will enable native wildflowers and other plants to start to thrive.

There will be nettles so we advise having legs covered. Bring snacks, water, and gloves if you have them (there will be spares provided). We will bash bracken for about an hour, with about 15 mins to clear up, finishing at 1pm.

You are welcome to head off /join us for a picnic/wander in the woods.
