About the task

Welcome to GoodGym Liverpool

We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Monday evening to get active and do a task to help local charities, community organisations and projects across Liverpool. Some of the group run, walk or cycle to the task, some just do the task, whatever works for you!

Most Group Runs will be lead by one of our fabulous volunteer qualified Run Leaders, but watch out for ones listed as 'Social Runs' as this means no Run Leader is present but we still go out and run together keeping our 'no one left beind' GoodGym vibe in place!

The Task One of our regular tasks with the Friends of Princes Park throughout the Spring and Summer. It's a beautiful park that many of us are familiar with as it's our home ground for our monthly GoodGym does parkrun sessions. As with most parks in Liverpool keeping the park in top condition for us all to enjoy is hugely in the hands of small dedicated teams of volunteers, so this is us doing our bit to help out.

There will be a variety of tasks over the months, including things like: Clearing mud and leaves form paths Cutting back overhanging shrubbery. (This would also make parkrun very happy!) Manuring of young trees Digging up brambles Weeding young trees And there is always litter picking as weather improves and more people leave more mess.

We'll have the fabulous Katy and/or Lis from FOPP with us each time to instruct us

Task Meeting Location: https://what3words.com/buyers.twist.locate

This is the spot where the FOPP storage container is, its the same container that parkrun use and is just near the ping pong table.

All tools are supplied by the task organisation but you may prefer to bring your own gloves.

The Run

Runners will be meeting at the Suitcases on Hope Street for a 6:30pm warm up and a run to the task. What 3 Words meet up link

If you are not running you can meet at the task location for 6:55pm ready for us all to start the task together.

Myth Busters - You have to be super fit to join GoodGym and you have to be a runner This couldn’t be further from the truth! We aim to make sure there is a way to get involved no matter what your fitness level or your goals. Our GoodGym team is full of people of all fitness levels, from those of us just getting off the couch and out the door wanting a little bit of moving around, all the way to those regularly running and cycling. We have regular longer run opportunities and advice from our qualified run leaders for those wanting more of a challenge, or a more gentle approach for anyone who will simply enjoy being involved in the tasks. Our core sessions usually have about half the team running and half just doing the task, and we want everyone to feel comfortable and welcome, so come and get involved! But do get in touch if you have any questions.

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym group run. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run to the task together. If you can't run for more than 15 minutes without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Ema Quinn (She/her) by email at ema@goodgym.org.

Options are available to run between 2km and 4km in total.

Remember that we will be running to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.

GoodGym is a community of people that get fit by doing good. We run, walk and cycle to do practical tasks for community organisations and isolated older people.
