Manys a time a Goodgym task restores your hope and makes you aware of the good things happening all around you.

Five Goodgym members met in Bootle’s North Park having never been before to firstly run a few laps and then meet with the Gateway Community CIC group.

Ali, Pip and Janet were most welcoming and they do great work to create a warm and healthy place for all to visit. From wildflower meadows to crops of fruits and veg, this place is a sanctuary.

So it was with enthusiasm that Sophie, Sallyann, Ema, Matt and John readied themselves for work but not before a lap or two of a run around the park itself. With basketball courts, skate boarding parks and gentle hills for us to stretch our legs it was a perfect warm up.

Discovering (and protecting) a field mouse and a bee hive whilst sorting through the compost heaps, Sophie, Sallyann and Ema completed a careful turnaround of the contents while Matt was a weed demon clearing a whole bed in no time to leave space for the flowers.

Having completed our work, we were treated to tea, cake and spare veg. The Gateway Community CIC group were a lovely group and we’ll hopefully help them soon again.

Well done Sophie, Sallyann, Ema and Matt for the difference you made
