Fresh from leafleting we returned to the farm. We had a much smaller (but still mighty!) compliment this evening than we normally get at the farm but still did an excellent job (if i do say so myself!)
We have been involved in the community nature days the farm have been running helping to build a sensory 'living food bank' maze.
A membrane has now been put down and our task for the evening was to transport the woodchip at the front of the farm down to the maze site and lay a path using the trusty wheelbarrows and shovels.
We all got stuck in and were well looked after as always by Danni and Thomas who as ever supplied us with good tunes and some nice chats.
Hannah fully utilised the opportunity to take some anger out on shovelling woodchip - not just good exercise but therapeutic too!
It was good to see the maze finally coming together after another lovely evening at the farm

We were back distributing the 10,000 leaflets Tom has for us this evening and we managed to find some houses a bit closer to the farm we had not yet targeted!
It was nice to be enjoying the sun rather than the rain and to hear all about shindig from Leszek.
Just walking and chatting whilst doing good for the farm felt good!

We arrived from all directions cycling, running, walking, and in cars for those who had to get to more good deeding before the evening was done! Our task was to help tidy up the Scout hut garden which is a neighbour to Rose Road and used by their day service. There was long grass and weeds a plenty so we set to work on different areas to get the job done. Wilson and Hannah volunteered for grass cutting and strimming. They unbelievably managed to keep going for the whole hour as the grass really needed a short back and sides. Strong effort team! They were careful to leave some longer sections with some clover for the bees. The rest of the team worked around the car park area and building to clear weeds, clumps of grass, dead leaves, and brambles. Stephanie and Leszek worked on trimming the hedge and clearing bindweed off the fence. Sarah gave us a top tip to use a screwdriver (or similar) to loosen the weeds. We learn something every task! We were rewarded for our efforts with some jelly babies and we’re excited to hear Rose Road should have lots for us to help with throughout the summer :)
