Today's task involved a lot of raking. The graves were being cleared ready for the memorial weekend in November.
We raked and and filled bags, Chris emptied the bags on the compost, bought them back and we raked and filled them up again... On repeat in the sunshine for a good 2 hour workout.
We were rewarded with a lovely brew and a biscuit at the end 😊

Fresh from seeing the delights of Millbrook dellb6 joined us at the farm. Tonight we were topping up the maze with topsoil. The maze is looking incredible compared to the wasteland it was when we started building it several months ago and has several flowers in bloom and a snake rock!
We were taking soil from behind the woodland walk and transporting them to the maze site - we couldnt get over how dark it got so quickly!
Danni informed us that soon we will be back on goat mountain duties so definitely something to look forward to

We changed things up a bit this evening and opted to do a litter pick instead of the usual leaflet drop - Chris retained his title of can man - scoring us all on the type of can we discovered - 2 points for a red bull!!
It was lovely to be joined by Justin for the first time who dived right in finding lots of litter in tricky to reach spots we hope to see you again soon! ☺
We were also joined by Dellb6 one of ten boomerangs from australia travelling around the world via local parkruns. This was passed to our very enthusiastic Ellie whose job it is to pass it on again this Saturday. This is the most special of the boomerangs as it was named in memory of a lady called Dell who passed away 4 weeks ago. She volunteered at her parkrun in South Beach Australia over 200 times! It was an honour to have Dell with us

Writing to help support this wonderful movement of helping to tidy up the overgrown planters in nearby neighbourhood. Chris was wonderfully slashing and snipping, motivating me to join in with the eviction of unwanted plants alongside a productive team of GGers. Rosemary galore was collected and some felt like making bread or even roasting lamb. Sadly some original plants were damaged in the session of the ‘slash and burn’ and we hope they forgive this unfortunate error. The new opportunity of growth and natural light may provide them with a new lease of life.
We missed not seeing our fellow GG'er Hannah this evening, but her absence meant that there was some exciting news! Our first little GG baby has arrived - Congratulations Hannah, we look forward to meeting little Orla (AKA Wilson Junior) soon!
We also had some singing to do for Sarah's big birthday - Happy Birthday Sarah! Flowers beautifully presented by Ellie...presumably with the hand that hadnt been stabbed by a cocktail stick....twice.
It was lovely to meet Emily and we look forward to returning in two weeks time!

Or in this case the vintage toilet water! Another evening of uncovering hidden treasures while sorting the donations for Rose Road’s pop up charity shop in October. From vintage perfumes to magical heat packs (or magiral heat packs?!) to mix tapes (CDs) to giant pipe cleaners to knitted cardigans of every size. We sorted it all. We hope Rose Road raise lots of money at their sale next month. We wouldn’t be surprised if some GoodGymers sneak back to purchase some bargain “Tweed”!

On a sunny and splendid evening in Shirley, the Pub and Pick 2.0 commenced. It's a small movement which will gain tracktion, and the neighbouring areas were well chosen for tonight's litter pick. Coming across many bottle caps, bits of plastic and children's sippy cups broken into pieces, the Pick and Pub crew collected two bags of rubbish to benefit the inhabitants living on the border between Shirley and Freemantle. Not only did the locals thank us, but we came across a lot of rubbish (not documented to protect identities) which was safely placed into bags to help clear the local neighbourhood. Our social deed was polished off with the Pub part of the Pick and Pub which was well received by Chris and myself to finish off a busy week. The evening became crisp with with clear skies to end our session. Long live the movement!
