We headed out in a light drizzle with our friends from Holy Trinity, and it turned into one of our longer runs as darkness fell. 🌆 Nobody was dampened (spirits, that is). 💦

Tonight was prep for our screening of the People's Emergency Briefing in a few weeks' time. We pounded the pavements and flyered the neighbourhood to get locals excited and signed up. Honestly, we really did leaflet it all out there! 🥳📄

Big shovel energy tonight at Holy Trinity, team! 💪🏼 One of our fave return fixtures — barrows loaded, wood mulch flying, and the orchard garden finally got the thirsty tree bases and borders the mulch they’d been begging for. Parched no more! 🌳💦

Squad on task: Adam, Ben, Fi, Katie, Michael, Rich and yours truly, Yianny. Absolute mulch-ines, the lot of them. 🍾

And because it was the end of the month, social snuck back into its rightful evening slot — chef’s kiss timing. 😊 Ben went full Bake Off with homemade feta parcels and veggie sausage rolls (someone give this man a task-and-tasting badge 🧰❤️), everyone else brought food and drink to match, and our host with the most, Tilly, ran a properly spirited round of Linkee that had brains and bellies both working overtime. 🤩

Mulch spread, minds boggled, tummies full — you really can’t beat a GoodGym Tuesday.

What a cracking evening, GoodGym-ers! 💪🏼🍾

Tonight's tight-knit squad of legends — Michael, Ben, Jo, Nicole, and yours truly, AA Yianny — rolled up ready for action, joined by our fabulous friend Naomi from Holy Trinity (HT). 🥰

Mission of the night: get HT looking sparkly ✨ ahead of some big celebrations coming up. Enter: the weeds along the outer wall, who did NOT see us coming. Armed with some brand new (and, let's be honest, slightly mysterious 🧰) tools, our crack team made light work of the lot — turns out "getting to the root of the problem" isn't just a saying, it's a Tuesday for us. 🌱👋

With the church looking noticeably less jungle and noticeably more "ready for its close-up," we decided we'd earned ourselves a reward — and with it being World Cup semi-final night, the choice basically made itself. Down the road we went for a well-deserved drink and to cheer on the football together. Weeding by day, wonder-goals by night — truly a session of two halves! ⚽🍻

😱🤩 What a night. HT: 1, Weeds: 0. Thanks for another brilliant session, team — same time next week? 🙌

What better way to kick off the monthly social than with a sweeping success? 🌟 A magnificent seven — Fi, Adam, Michael, Ben, Nicole, Katie, and Jo — descended on Holy Trinity, ready to make the orchard garden the belle of the bower. 💪🏼🍾

With Nicole, Adam, and Naomi on home turf to lead the charge, the crew got straight down to business in the orchard garden, where weeds had been living rent-free for far too long. 🌿😤 Hoes were wielded, scrapers were scraped, brooms were swept with panache, and bags were filled with the kind of righteous fury only a GoodGym volunteer can muster. Under new management: this garden. 🏡✨

It’s fair to say the team made a clean sweep of the place — leaving paths cleared, beds tidied, and the whole space looking absolutely broom-tiful. 😱🤩 Some might say it was a brush with perfection. We couldn’t possibly comment. 🧹

The orchard didn’t know what hit it — and by the end, neither did the weeds. Gone. Bagged. Swept under the rug of history. 🪣🌸

After all that hard graft, the monthly social awaited — and frankly, no one had ever earned a drink more. 🥂❤️

What a night! GoodGym Lambeth were back out in force for one of our favourite combos: a proper graft followed by a proper social.

The dream team of Fi, Ben, Katie, Tilly, Michael, Jo, task owner Nicole, and the brilliant Naomi from HTC assembled, ready to take on whatever the evening threw at them. 💪🏼

(A special shoutout to Adam, who had to pull out with an injury before the fun began — wishing you a speedy recovery, mate! We’ll keep a weed-pulling glove warm for you. 🧤)

The Task: Holy Weed-moley 🌱😤 Tonight’s mission took us to the vicarage, where the garden had clearly been taking its vows a little too seriously — specifically the vow of uncontrolled growth. We’re talking weeds. Weeds upon weeds. A veritable congregation of weeds. If weeds could form a church, this would’ve been their cathedral. 🌿⛪

Our lot got stuck in with the kind of righteous enthusiasm that frankly the clergy would approve of. Pulling, digging, bagging — the whole holy trinity of garden clearance. By the time we were done, the vicar could actually see the garden again. We didn’t quite part the sea of greenery, but we gave it a very good go. Check out the pics for proof! ❤️📸

The Social: What Do You Meme? (More Like What Do You SCREAM) 😱🤩 Post-weeding, the team descended on the Tulse Hill Hotel for the monthly social, where What Do You Meme? was unleashed upon an unsuspecting group of tired volunteers. Reader, it did not stay innocent for long.

Michael appeared to have some kind of mystical connection to the card deck, pulling out banger after banger like a comedy magician. 🪄 Tilly, meanwhile, finally — finally — broke her duck and claimed a well-deserved round win (the crowd went appropriately wild 🎉). Nicole made a late surge to the finish with all the energy of someone who’d spent the evening battling overgrown weeds and still had gas in the tank.

As for the female sanitary products, we have agreed collectively to never speak of this again.... An absolutely brilliant evening all round. Weeds vanquished, memes survived, community strengthened. This is what GoodGym Lambeth is all about. 🏃‍♀️💚

On a mild Lambeth evening, our GoodGym superstars turned up in gooseberry great numbers for a task that was truly berry satisfying. 💪🏼🍾🌿

Our mission: dig out several gooseberry bushes and relocate them (via barrows!) to the orchard garden behind the church. And honestly? It was completed in no time — proving once again that many hands make light work… and strong legs make lightly complaining work. 😅🚜

Now, we can’t confirm there was extra speed in the air… but we may have been powered by the knowledge that an end-of-month social was waiting for us. Motivation? ✅ Relocation? ✅ Social-ocation? Also ✅ 🤗

Huge thanks to Adam and Nicole, our absolute legends of the evening, who hosted us and did not disappoint: food, drink, and board games aplenty! ❤️🍕🍻🎲 (Let it be known: we came to transplant bushes, but we stayed to transplant ourselves into competitive board-game personalities.)

A wonderful time was had by all — and yes, we definitely got to know each other a LOT better too 😏😂. By the end of the night, we’d also uncovered the true solution to modern life’s troubles: a cucumber suit, tequila, salami t-shirts, and a very active ‘social life’. 🥒👔🍹🥓😄
