Best return since Jesus at Easter

Wednesday 26th March

Written by Laurie Chatterjee (she/her)

There was a treat for everyone as Dylan dropped Laurie off for her first run lead since mid-2024! very, very exciting.

We said hello to Zoe who unfortunately hadn't known there would be running and didn't make it to the meeting point for flyering on Hill View. We do have a walking option for some tasks and ordinarily can arrange a meeting point.

Richard, Rich and Andy obviously grumbled but did a route on the Bunny walks to ensure there was some fitness involved before meeting the legendary team of Fay and Sallyann to begin leafletting. Andy clearly did least leafletting as he had most left but he did get a rare 'talking pass' as he was chatting to Fay. Prize for most energetic definitely goes to Richard!

We helped out 3 charities and ran back to the gym. Good to be back leading and check out all the April tasks online now! Clocks forward this weekend (to punish mothers) so nice and light next week.

We're gonna run down to Second Avenue, and then we'll give them leaflets

Wednesday 12th March

Written by Angela

After turning up exactly on time with Rich and Jane, Fay had set a plan of attack for the Avenues part of town which Andy back-lead us the long way so we could have a bit of a run.

Robert told us all about his Super Half runs and puts the call out for Milton Keynes half runners (GoodGym race team?). Russell has been working on his excellent pace to run the other MK half (how many halves do they need to make one MK?).

Sallyann was back on the power walking, getting to/from the leaflet drop spot before the rest of the gang. Laurie gave us Dylan and David updates. Erin enjoyed the bike chat, is it time to go wheeling soon?

Leah requested a longer run back to feel extra smug at pizza night, which we were all NOT invited to. So rude. Martin was also looking forward to post-run dinner treats. Benedict somehow didn't feel the cold, which is nuts because it was freezing.

Most of the gang then headed off to Back Inn Time, further proving that goodgymmers can be drawn out of winter hibernation early with the promise of food.

TREE-mendous work

Sunday 12th January

Written by David Chatterjee

Andy and I did our bit for tree collection - Andy managed to be less white van driver this year. We also set the record for Farleigh's tallest ever tree collected, bagged ourselves a 13 footer!

This year’s treecycle will raise over £70,000—an absolutely fantastic achievement!

Farleigh Hospice has been providing care and support to anyone affected by life-limiting illness and bereavement in our local community for over 40 years. We support people affected by any life limited illness, including lung disease, neurological conditions, heart failure and cancer, and help people to live well and die well by providing physical and emotional care, and your kindness makes this possible.

It costs over £21,271 every day to provide the care we do to our local community across mid Essex. We are part funded by the NHS but still need the support of our community to help raise vital funds to enable us to continue providing care completely free of charge to those who need it.

A Farleigh tree-memdous chill

Wednesday 7th December 2022

Written by Tav (he/him)

On easily the coldest night of the year we ventured out to deliver a double message: 1. Recycle your Christmas tree and support Farleigh Hospice 2. Come to Goodgym!

There was a full moon and a variety of Christmas lights deviating the Avenues but our very own Joe out shone everyone. A beautiful sight to see running around Chelmsford!

The speedy delivery done it was Christmas Social time! I hope you all warmed up and thanks to Laurie for organising.

No sign of Tom Hanks anywhere but Fay and Angela braved the cold to deliver some leaflets, admiring the christmas decorations as they went!

Next week is our last task of the year, and we're heading back to St John's Church Hall for some more leaf clearing. You can sign up here

We've also got our Christmas do this Saturday, there is still time to sign up if you'd like to come.
