12 GoodGymers and one little helper braved the cold for a volunteering session at Chelmsford Central parkrun.
We did marshalling, barcode scanning, and finish tokening.
Most of us struggled to resist the Mr Kiplings pies afterwards, followed by hot drink queues, large breakfasts and pancakes at our old faithful Wetherspoons.
Well done all, and we'll be repeating this in January!

To start Fay's 6th GoodGym birthday, we welcomed Jess back for her second GoodGym run, followed by somehow posing for Rich's slightly creepy panoramic photo.
The runners set off with litter pickers towards King's Road and were caught up shortly after by Fay and Rich who walked. Russell and Andy were engaging in more chat than litter picking, and dragging Rich down with them, so it was suggested they move to the other side of the road. Ben joined to help, and I joined to supervise. I can't say that the chatting stopped, but we did fill quite a large bag of litter and stop for some ridiculous photos.
The other (much larger) group left us behind, so we got our head torches on and caught them up (still chatting the whole way). We reconvened, got a much more normal group photo, and jogged back through the park to make it a nice round 5-ish km.
Once we got back we were excited to get ready for our trip to Back Inn Time. Andy, Joe, and Paul took extra long to pamper themselves in the gym changing rooms, whilst Erin went with the no changing approach. We all enjoyed our diner experience, and managed to not be brainwashed by Richard's shiny folding phone.
We've got the pub quiz on Sunday and there's some spaces left - sign up here.
We'll also be running polls soon for volunteering at parkrun in November, and the December social. Keep an eye on whatsapp for those.
Next week Rich is leading a litter pick - sign up here.
See you soon,
Laurie

On what could be the last warm summery evenings of the year we met at HQ ready for another great Goodgym sesh, and who should turn up but the originator of Chelmsford Goodgym, the man, the myth, the legend Ken . And also he finally reached his 100th good deed. superb work my man
Tonight we would be litterpicking in Arun park and some of the surrounding streets. A gentle jog along the bunnywalks with littpickers in hand and we were soon there. And greeted as we climbed the hill by Sallyann in her brand new 50 Gooddeeds Tshirt. Well done Sallyann
Andy struck a pose with a pair of "Armani" sunglasses Joe had found in a hedge ( that seemed dubious), Erin ,Angela and Richard chatted about Trance music festivals ( that i think they made up the names for) and Jenny decscibed the colour green she was going to paint the walls of her house (that her dad didn't like).
With 2 bags full of rubbish we headed back to base and went on our merry way.
Thanks for coming all

*9 Goodgymers ran 5.4km to meet 2 more Goodgymers to help out Ormiston Familes at the prison! *
We met and lamented the change in weather, and our mouths dropped open as a collective when The Secret Weapon Martin whipped out his courgette collection. Phwoar. Richard didn't know where to look.
We headed on out to get painting another undercoat on the benches. The incredibly thirsty benches soaked up the paint while we beavered away. Fay regaled tales of how her dad used to play football against the prison team and Sallyann helped me out with my crevice issues. Joe got stuck in with an unusual painting technique of lying on the floor, spider on the right nipple.
Thanks to Ormiston Families for having us, and especially to the helper (sorry I didn't get the name!) who brought us water. Great work everyone.
We ran back pretty quickly trying to look out for the supermoon/ blue moon but alas nothing. Erin and I even got mugged off by Joel, for shame for shame.
After we got back we handed out Athletic Brewing tasty brews and planned socials. Back Inn Time after a GG session this month and a fancy dress bar crawl in October! Watch this space for dates! Pub quiz this Sunday at the Ale House too!

On a glorious Wednesday summer evening we gathered at the HQ for another great group run and task.
Firstly, I'd like to welcome Angela to the group for her first run with us. Hope you enjoyed yourself and our chatty little group.
Tonights task was to deliver leaflets for 6 different charities that Fay had taken time during the week to fold (400 of them) together to make an easy bundle to post. As always, Thank you Fay.
Before we set off Martin produced a bag full of courgettes that he had spare and needed to find a good home for. And Leanne also had some rhubarb that she wanted to share with the group. Deciding that running with these wouldn't be wise we left them in Leanne's car and set off to meet Fay and Sallyann.
We met them just outside Springfield Baptist Church with bags full of leaflets and distributed them to all and set-off down Sandford road. Splitting into 2 groups we managed to not lose each other and even not to miss a letterbox.
Carrying on until almost all the leaflets were delivered we headed back to HQ and retrieved the rhubarb and courgettes and distributed them to those who wanted them.
As always thanks for coming guys, literally couldn't have done it without you.
Next week we will be going to the visitors center at Chelmsford prison to paint their outdoor area. ( there will also be a social after the run with some non alcoholic beer if you want to stay on)
