Brightening up the space for people to use

Chelmsford Report written by Laurie Glendinning
7 GoodGymers ran and walked to the Ideas Hub to paint
After our previous task fell through, our wonderful Area Activator Fay jumped into action and found us a replacement, and even better, it was an indoor replacement!
Two set off walking and the rest of us jogged in the drizzle to the Ideas Hub where we met our task owner Edith and put on our hi-viz.
Our task was to paint a large section of grey walls with white, to prepare them for a new photography space run by the Ideas Hub.
We moved the items away from the walls and put dust sheets down ready to paint. Rich and Joe paired up with long rollers, whilst Joel and David picked up shorter rollers, Richard got up a ladder to meticulously cut in the top of the painting area, and Fay found her ledg-end place.
We painted more than any of us expected, and will be returning next week to continue!
See you all next time!

What terrible weather it was today - but Fay leapt to the rescue! We were going to be outside but she managed to get us an indoor task at the last minute - superstar!
We met in the cold and rain, the snow long since gone, and had a chat while I got a standing ovation for the quiz victory on Sunday.
We pootled the way to the top of the Meadows, chatting as we do. Good luck to Richard with the course he is doing, and I can only assume Andy banged on about a certain football result from this weekend.
We met Edith and needed to move all the chairs, the dragons, ironing board, and poles (amongst other things) to clear space for artists in the coming weeks. We will be painting the area soon. We were thanked for our speed, a great example of many hands making light work.
Edith invited us to submit a float into the parade in July - she can provide the wheels, we need to get creative and start making! send all ideas to Jenny who volunteered to do some CAD drawings. Should be fun!
Great to see everyone and a fantastic turnout considering the weather! Hopefully see you all - and more - next week! Do also check out the socials we have coming up, another pub quiz next month and a roast dinner on 30th April which Joe wanted to sample now

Saturday 4th February
Richard earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Richard completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Richard was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

9 GoodGymers turned out bright and early to volunteer at Chelmsford Parkrun this morning. Rich and Russell were timekeeping. Laurie, David and Jenny were barcode scanning and the rest of us did some sterling clapping and cheering while marshalling. The weather was good and 677 people ran, jogged and walked the course, so we did our bit to help Chelmsford get fit while we did good!
After we'd given back our hi-viz jackets and lanyards we moved on for a spot of socialising over a fry-up. Rachel and Abi joined us for some breakfast and we had a good catch up before heading off to enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Our next group run is on Wednesday and is a litter pick for Essex Waterways, you can sign up here.
