Last night, 12 of us gathered at Charlton House before running or walking our way to Charlton Manor Primary School for an evening of community spirit, paintbrushes and several spiders.
After a short run, some of the runners met up with our walking crew at the school, who were already armed with paintbrushes and getting stuck into freshening up the walls of the Mary Seacole classroom. No hanging about here!
Meanwhile, another small but mighty team tackled the lost property cupboard. We made some decent headway, sorting the mountain of mystery belongings into different crates and uncovering what felt like a thriving spider community along the way.
As they say, many hands make light work, and with everyone mucking in, we got plenty done.
Thank you everyone - we'll be back later in the year to give the outdoor equipment a fresh lick of paint, so watch this space!

This week at Charlton Manor Primary School, our task coincided with England playing in the semi finals of the World Cup so our numbers were depleted but we were a mighty few that turned up, happy to not to have to pretend to be interested in the match! Our ice breaker question tonight was to share three emojis that describe our day and so ensued lots of comments on frustrating meetings, long hours in front of the computer and generally looking a bit bug eyed No wonder we love coming out to GoodGym every wednesday for that mid-week boost! ❤️
Our task for the evening was tidying up in the nursery garden, trimming the trees (not the threes, the trees 🌳) with some very stiff and rusty shears which sounded like a they were coming to the end of their life and gave us some laughs. Threes trimmed, and we set about clearing the little path, and creating more of a canopy and before long we heard the cheers for kick off which was our signal to be off so off we went our ways running back to our homes a little bit fitter, a little bit happier and a little bit more of a do-gooder!
Until next time 😁

It was a beautiful sunny evening last night, perfect for a GoodGym Greenwich foray around Charlton. We started warming up with the question:
What would be the first thing you did if you won the lottery?
Answers ranged from paying off family mortgages, taking a month away to consider what to do with the rest of life, buying one of those massive houses on Crooms Hill and giving 90% of it away. Some of the group ran a loop of Charlton and Hornfair Park and some walked directly to Charlton Manor Primary School where Michael was waiting with brushes, forks and paint. The task for the evening was finishing off painting the fences and a rather lovely trellis bench and weeding around the nursery play area. 40minutes later there was a fresh coat of paint everywhere, including a splatter which christened Mark's nice new GoodGym tee (we knew it wouldn't take long!) and one of the borders clear of weeds. Amazing what can be achieved in a short space of time - many hands make light work indeed.
We then headed to the playground for a short fitness session to top off the evening.
Thank you all - until next time!

Last night we met at Charlton house for a warm up and the heady prospect of finishing our task in the light! 🎉
The ice breaker involved sharing our phobias which ranged from belly buttons, to snakes, flying and fingers near eyeballs (eugh). Luckily none of the phobias were encountered on our run through Charlton Park down to the lovely Charlton Manor Primary School.
Here we were reunited with GoodGymers who met at the task and with Michael who was armed with brushes galore, paint, wet wipes and gardening tools. The task was to paint the kitchen and fences in the nursery area and get rid of all the pesky alkanet. We got to it, and many hands make for light painting so after fourty minutes we had a large section complete and lots of weeds in the bin. Excellent job team!
After a quick intervals session in a triangle round the school we stretched and headed home. A lovely evening with a lovely bunch, thank you all 😊
On Saturday we're helping at the Pet Cemetery in Hornfair Park and next Wednesday we're sorting at the Bridge Community centre.
Until next time 👋🏼

Tonight, 9 Goodgymers met for a school reunion, taking us back to Charlton Manor Primary where we painted the town grey! (Well, some cupboard doors anyway).
After an ice-breaker discussing favourite nuts, a slightly stormy evening pushed us on our way for the run, readying us to brush up on our artwork once we got to the school. Here we continued our project of painting the key stage 1 hall, this time covering the wall of cupboards in a glossy grey. Teamwork makes a task run super smoothly, and with rollers, cutting-in brushes and a few stretches & climbs, our job was done.
Brazil-iant work all, and cashew soon!

10 Walls Painted 9 Hedges pruned 8 (hundred) flyers posted 7 Gardens weeded 6 Litterpicks 5 ParkRuns Run! 4 Marshalls Cheering 3 Sheds sorted 2 Ceilings gilded and 1 run report to write now...
OK, so tonight's task did not involve all of the above. However, 10 goodgym-ers did meet for a very productive painting task this evening!
A meet up at Charlton House for a quick warm up led to a lovely run through some Charlton streets featuring several impressive festive lights displays. We ended at Charlton Manor Primary School where caretaker Michael briefed us on our task, which involved painting the walls & cupboards in the Key Stage One assembly hall, used by both the school and various community groups such as the Rainbows.
Brushes, rollers and containers at the ready, teamwork was key as we cut in, rollered & reached for the the top spots with the finest Magnolia emulsion. Time flew by but we covered lots of space, which now needs to dry for the next coat.
Big welcome back to Roshan for his second task with us in a week!
Great work all and Roller On the weekend for our GGG Social...!
On Saturday we've got Clean up Charlton and coffee. Next wednesday is TBC - watch this space!
Until next time 😁
