DRIVERS, CYCLISTS AND WALKERS NEEDED! Deliver essential food parcels for EAP across Ealing

Thu 14 Jan

Ealing Alternative Provision provides education for young people who are unable to follow their education in the mainstream setting. They are supporting a few local families with food parcels and are looking for volunteers to help deliver them on Thursday lunchtimes.

Please note: They are working with The William Hobbayne Charity to sort and supply the food so parcels will be collected from there and NOT the school

This Thursday they have 10 families that need delivering and we need as many people as possible to help out

Option 1: 1.6 miles - drop off near Hanwell Community Centre to a family of 5 - Ideally three walkers / cyclists working together

Option 2: 1.4 miles - drop off near Hanwell Community Centre to a family of 4 - Ideally two walkers / cyclists working together

Option 3: 1.3 miles - drop off near West Ealing to a family of 4 - Ideally two walkers / cyclists working together

Option 4: 1.6 miles - drop off near Cleveland Park to a family of 4 - Ideally two walkers / cyclists working together

Option 5: 3.6 miles - drop off near Cayton Green Park (Greenford) to a family of 4 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Option 6: 4.2 miles - drop off near Rectory Park to a family of 5 - Ideally three cyclists working together or a driver

Option 7: 3.7 miles - drop off near Northala Fields to a family of 3 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Option 8: 3.2 miles - drop off near Southall Recreation Ground to a family of 5 - Ideally three cyclists working together or a driver

Option 9: 3.2 miles - drop off near Greenford Sports Centre to a family of 4 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Option 10: 4.6 miles - drop off near Acton Park to a family of 4 - Ideally two cyclists working together or a driver

Once you've signed up please comment below which parcel(s) you are able to deliver, if you can be flexible that would be amazing! Please only sign up if you can commit to one of the above locations.

Instructions:

  • Parcels should be collected from The William Hobbayne Centre on Boston Road between 12pm and 1:30pm

  • June will be there to meet you

  • You'll be given the confidential full address of the family to deliver to, please let them know which option you have signed up for

  • You'll then head out and drop off the parcels at the doorstep of the address you've been given and knock to ensure the family know that the parcel has arrived

  • Any problems with deliveries call the school 0208 991 8570 or contact Ellen on 07908170934

The parcels are quite large make sure you're happy to carry the items and definitely bring a big large rucksack to carry them, especially if you're cycling.

Any questions, drop me an email to olivia@goodgym.org

Once we have the right number of sign ups, I'll send you a confirmation email.

Usha has has earned their community cape by completing their first community mission. Sun 10 Jan 2021

Usha completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Usha was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Usha has done their first good deed with GoodGym. Sun 10 Jan 2021

Usha is a now a fully fledged GoodGym runner. They've just run to do good for the first time. They are out there making amazing things happen and getting fit at the same time.

Now that's what we call a delivery

Thu 7 Jan
Report written by Marion

Today's community mission saw 17 amazing members of the GoodGym community come together to ensure that essential food was delivered to families all across the Ealing borough.

Here's how it went down:

  • Andy took part in GoodGym for the first time and joined Alasdair as a cycling team heading to Acton
  • Ski performed her GoodGym debut and delivered to a family in Northolt
  • Caroline also a first timer to GoodGym made a difference with a Greenford delivery
  • Phil was another member of team 'first time GoodGym' and was so flexible and helpful taking on whatever delivery he could
  • Larissa, a GoodGym stalwart jumped in to help with a Horsenden drop off
  • Tom teamed up with Ruth (also on her debut GoodGym session!) by bike for a Hanwell delivery
  • The ever reliable team of Harvey and Marieke were on their bikes for an Acton drop off
  • Navjeet got stuck in on her first GoodGym session too and was so happy to help and be involved
  • Marie got in touch and wanted to help however she was needed. Big welcome to her!
  • Regulars Mike and Milly proved to be a dream team and delivered to a family in Southall
  • Muhammad joined for the second time and was delighted to be able to help again
  • And last but not least we had Marion and Usha (also first timers) who paired up to walk together to drop off in West Ealing

Here's what Marion had to say about her experience:

Today was my very 1st GoodGym mission! Such a great thing to do! I ran to the centre where food could be picked up. I walked to the family and delivered the food parcel and ran back home. Such a good feeling to help out while exercising!!
