Childrens Scrapstore - News to me

This Tuesday we are heading back to the Children's Scrapstore to help them to address and pack envelopes for the latest newsletter.
The Children's Scrapstore is an amazing Aladdin's cave of donated goods from local business that they use in lots of ways including donating to local schools for playpods so kids can use their imagination with in during their break times. The time has come to spread the word about their wonderful work in their newsletter but they've got so many fans that it would take them ages to stuff all of the envelopes themselves. That's where we come in.
What is that I hear you cry? "We're not sorting scrap!?" I know, I know, it's really peculiar but who knows there may be some scrap sorting on the side depending on how good your envelope stuffing is.
The run will be around 5k in total (2.5 out, 2.5 back).
You can leave your things at Vivo whilst we are out running, just remember to bring a padlock for the lockers and you'll be fine.

Way Out West - Painting the Hall

Way Out West are a neighbourhood action group in Bedminster. They work together to improve any neglected local areas to make them accessible again.
Our task for the evening is to help paint the church hall. This is going to be a big job, so we will need big numbers. Do not wear your best clothes as there is a good chance you will get splashed at some point (I've got an old pair of shorts and trainers especially for such tasks).
It will be a 2.5k run each eay (5k in total). We will, as ever, have a back marker to ensure nobody gets left behind and we all go at a comfortable pace.
The wonderful people at Vivo let us use their lockers so you can leave your bags and belongings there while we're running, just remember to bring a padlock.

St Mary Redcliffe - Newletters

The local community group in Redcliffe have just published the third edition of their newsletter that gives everyone in the area an update of what's going on and how to get involved. Our job is to help deliver it to everyone.
We will be scaling tower blocks and spanning streets to make sure every door has a copy. It will be an incredibly short run there (half a mile!) and then we can get to work. As it is such a short run this is another great reason to try GoodGym for the first time if you have not run with us before.
As we had such a short run out we will then have options of a longer run and/or some training exercises to keep you in peak running condition.
Meet us at Vivo where you store you things in a locker, just make sure you bring a padlock.

Emmaus - Part of the furniture - Starter Session

Emmaus are a wonderful charity that help homeless people in so many ways. Our job for the evening is to fix up donated furniture so it is in a good enough state to be sold.
This is fast becoming one of our favourite tasks, and for good reason. We need as many hands as possible to hammer, sand, screw, paint, and varnish until all the furniture the guys can throw at us is looking good enough to sell.
It's a short run, bearly a mile each way, and the task is indoors so no need to worry about the cold. If you are unsure whether to try GoodGym out then this is the run for you. Come and see how much fun you can have keeping fit and helping the community at the same time.
We'll be running from Vivo on the Welsh Back so if you want to leave any bags etc. there just bring along a padlock for the lockers.
It's going to be a belter, see you there!

East Bristol Food Bank - Taking Stock

East Bristol Food Bank needs our help for their annual stock take. We need to weigh and record all of their stock so the more runners, the merrier.
East Bristol Food Bank takes donations form local supermarkets and distributes them to those in need. After they have received stock, but before it is allocated, they store it in a self storage depot. They need to keep their records up-to-date so every year they do a stock take. There will be lots for us to do so come along and bring a friend. If you bring a friend along who hasn't been to GoodGym before you also get a pair of limited edition red laces.
Meet us at Vivo on the Welsh Back at 6:25pm and bring along a padlock if you would like to store any belongings in their lockers.
See you there,
Gary
