Bricking it

Southampton Report written by Ellie (She/her)

It was great to be welcomed back to Aldermoor this evening by Richard exactly a year on from the very first time we visited this wonderful community place. It was officially one year since a group of enthusiastic Southamptoners came together to find out how they could be involved with the first new area to launch since covid and the first community led area too. That night we shifted compost but this evening we were painting signs, cleaning bricks, feeding the cats, and saying goodnight to all the farm birds. We finished off with some unofficial birthday biscuits to celebrate our unofficial birthday (check out our session on 22nd April for our official celebrations!). Richard always keeps us busy and on our toes with new skills to learn so we are very grateful to him for his hard work and organisation. We look forward to our next session at the farm when we won't even need head torches!

Because we can, can, can!

Southampton Report written by Ellie (She/her)

Well done to everyone who did a great job ridding the streets of cans on many litter picks in different locations in Southampton and Portsmouth! Perhaps the stinkiest gift to give to anyone is bags and bags of litter picked cans, but Team Totton were thrilled to add them to their collection which will raise money for Hampshire Air Ambulance. We look forward to hearing how much the total can collection weighs when they tot it up.

Count Plastic-a

Portsmouth Report written by Dave Moore

The GG team did their bit for the big plastic count 2024

Figures are being uploaded and the footprints are being created now. It seems the feline species is a big plastic problem! Hopefully food packaging can be reimagined to remove that from the production line!

And a lot of crisp and sweet packets are binned/recycled.
