Gunnersbury parkrun volunteer takeover

Sat 6 Nov

On Saturday 6th November we're hoping to fill all the volunteer roles at Gunnersbury parkrun with GoodGymers!

We'll need quite a few volunteers on the day and there's a good mix of things to choose from, please note some roles still allow you to still run if you're really keen to still take part in the event itself as well as volunteering.

Click here to add yourself to the volunteer spreadsheet.

If you're new to parkrun you'll need to register beforehand (for both running and volunteering), click here to get yourself signed up. It's free, fun and I guarantee you'll love it!

So in a nutshell, come down, get involved with parkrun and help this wonderful community of runners!

  • Most volunteer voles for parkrun will need to be in Gunnersbury at 8:30am (some earlier, please check your role time on the spreadsheet)

  • We meet at the top of the park you can see the start point here on the Gunnersbury parkrun course page - look for the group of high vis heroes!

  • If you're running parkrun, it starts at 9am but come for 8:45am to be safe

  • Don't forget your barcode if you're running - no barcode, no time!

  • You need to print a physical copy of your barcode, they don't scan from phones (you don't need one if you're only volunteering)

  • After we're done we'll head to the cafe somewhere to be decided on the day so stick around!

Hope to see lots of you there!

Burdock removal in Elthorne Park with an optional run beforehand

Tue 2 Nov

This week we are meeting in Elthorne Park to spot burdock and work away at removing it from the park. We work with Ealing Park Rangers regularly to help maintain our lovely parks and this week is no different!

Meeting point is Trumpers Way Bridge at 6:45pm.

What do you need to take part?

It's essential that you bring a head torch for outdoor sessions - if you don't have one we have a few spares but please comment below!

Other than that you can come as you are but the following would really helpful for you to bring along too!

  • Please bring your own gloves (the gardening kind) - we have spares but it saves me washing them!
  • Hand sanitiser - always handy these days
  • Layers - it gets pretty chilly now!

The run around the park during the task will be short and suitable for everyone. So if you’re new to running or a seasoned pro you’ll get a great workout!

If you don’t want to run please meet at 7:10pm instead at the same place.

Afterwards we normally find a nearby pub, come along a join us!

Spooky group run OR walk - Finishing with a ghastly task

Tue 26 Oct 19:00 pm
Northfields station, Northfield Ave, , London , W13 9QU
Halloween is here - Join us for a some eerie exercise and a terrible task ;)

This week we're jumping on the Halloween vibe and we have some eerie exercise and a terrible task to complete ;)

We'll start by meeting at Northfields Station at 7pm from there we'll split into two groups:

  • The witchy walkers - A group walk for anyone who doesn't want to run, we'll take a moonlit 3km walk before the task

OR

  • The skeleton sprinters - A group run suitable for all paces, you'll complete a 5km run before the task

The task is a spooky stroll along the path running between two cemeteries (ooohhhhooo) where we'll do a clean up operation of the area.

Please bring a headtorch if you have one! Fancy dress is optional but encouraged ;)

Afterwards we're likely to head to a nearby pub back towards Northfields station for a devilish drink (or just a softie, completely up to you!).

Chris has completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Tue 5 Oct 2021

Chris has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Food Waste Warriors

Sat 2 Oct
Report written by Chris

A group of Goodgymers visited City Harvest to help sort donated food into boxes for distribution, and even wiped a few of the boxes that got caught in the rain! A very rewarding morning and was great to return to City Harvest.
