The William Hobbayne CharityAbout
In 1459, William Hobbayne surrendered in his lifetime a house and some 22 acres of land to be used for the poor and needy of the parish of Hanwell. In 1484 this land became the basis of the Charity.
Hobbayne Half Acre Field was part of the original acreage thatΒ William Hobbayne donated. It has remained untouched, apart from a couple of decades during and after World War II, when local residents grew food on it to feed their families. Although private, the land is accessible to anybody who wishes to walk through it. The public footpath from Station Road to the River Brent footbridge runs along the northern edge of the land.
β What Are We Doing?
Each summer, the growth on the sides of paths in the woods can start getting a bit out of control. We are heading out to the woodlands to help tame nature and ensure that Half Acre Field remains a beautiful space for wildlife observation, relaxation and walking.Β

What do I need to wear? Most of us wear gym/running gear but this isn't required, so wear whatever you're comfortable working in. Make sure you're prepared for the weather.
Is there a bag drop? No, we don't have a bag drop or changing facilities. If you're running to the task, please only bring what you are comfortable running with.
Do I need to know how to weed/marshal/make clothing packs/etc.? No, not at all. We have someone experienced to guide you at the task, either from the organisation that we're helping or one of our own task leaders.
