Charlotte has completed their 15th good deed with GoodGym
Charlotte just completed a six month streak of doing missions. That’s so many bags of garden rubbish cleared and jobs done to help someone out and put a smile on their face. Give Charlotte a cheer to encourage them to keep up the good work.
Great morning at junior park run this morning. Jen was our RD, Sinead & John were at the finish on scanning duties, Aoife marshalled, Charlotte marshalled and litter picked whilst on her way to and from Marshall point!! Very dedicated! Vicki was at mid point encouraging the juniors to run around the cone! Some weren’t having any of it!!
Big thanks to Jen tonight for doing the organisation and liaising with the community team at Morrisons as well. As a reward, she got to do her most favourite thing ... chopping large branches off trees.
Weeds were pulled out of cracks (insert one of the many jokes here 😉), the planters were also weeded. Fennel's sister plant seemed to be growing everywhere! Hedges were trimmed and the outside area looked much clearer at the end than the start!
We also planted some geraniums and marigolds that were donayed by Morrisons.
A big pile (more jokes!) of greenery was left in the polytunnel for composting.
Great team work as always and amazing to see how much can be done in not much time!
Welcome the return of Parkrun by volunteering with Eastney Junior Parkrun!
Eastney Junior Parkrun is a 2k run every Sunday at 9am in Bransbury Park for 4 to 10 year olds.
While they always need volunteers, we've offered to bring the Goodgym good vibes once a month. Should be really fun cheering the kids on. All the details of the event here: https://www.parkrun.org.uk/eastney-juniors/
We'll need to be there ready for 8.30am by the café. If you want do (or avoid) any particular volunteering role, leave a comment below or message me. They are keen for extra marshals and tailwalker(s) in particular.
This is a special double volunteering points opportunity!! Goodgym and Parkrun if you are registered - dust off that barcode!
No doubt there will be coffee and chat opportunities afterwards :-)
Make sure you sign up and I'll let them how many of us can make it the week before.
A warm welcome to our first tourist for over 2 years... all the way from Sheffield, Max. Make sure you give him a cheer!
It was just as lovely to see everyone else too, of course! We were a bit dismayed to see how much the nettles had grown since the last time we were in the garden, so the main mission of the day was to try and get them somewhat under control...
Angela, Jo, Max and Paul got to work chopping and hoeing and covering lots of ground. Val and Charlotte picked up the rubbish as it was uncovered. Lots of pens were found as well as a softball and tennis ball. Judy weeded the planters and planted some geraniums.
Tony was king of the keys and equipment which was fine until he had to put the equipment away and the gates were locked!
Everyone was allowed out eventually and we all got home in the light.... we love the light evenings!
