After a day of stop / start rain it was time for Goodgym , and we all know it doesn't rain at Goodgym.

We met at the university gym and chatted about James G and Gerry's fantastic achievement at the London marathon over the weekend. Seriously, Well done guys. It was a hot day and just finishing was a big achievement. And also, a big warm welcome to Beci on her first Goodgym run, i hope its the first of many.

A quick head count and then we set off through the town center towards InterAct where Suzi was waiting to greet us and explain a bit about what they do there. Its such a fantastic charity and i am so happy that we are able to help them make a space for everyone to use.

The first port of call was to move some wood logs down to the end of the garden where they would be used in an area to be turned into a tranquil spot, So as some got on with that the rest were given the task of moving some concrete slabs out of the garden and into a corner of the car park and even with a wheel barrow with a flat they managed with ease. And boy, were both groups fast....so fast in fact we had finished with time to spare and so started on a second job.....

This required some coordination ( something we are excellent at). To set up a chain gang and move a pallet of loose bricks front the front garden to a different pallet in the corner of the car park. This went like clockwork and some people started to use it as an exercise routine. With plenty of chatting about up coming events, or events they would like to do, or what they were having for dinner tonight we were soon done. And after the much appreciated drinks and biscuits we were on our way.

After a job well done and it still being light I thought a nice run along the river was in order. We set out at a good chatting pace and carried on until we reached a lock and then crossed it to make our way back. I remember doing this route last year and having a great photo op on a bridge. We had to stop and do it again and show off our Goodgym T-shirts for the swans, horses and 2 men standing in the field taking photos ( still don't know what they were doing). We ran back to base , had a stretch and discussed next weeks task, social and up coming events.

Thanks for coming tonight guys, every little bit adds up and for those that saw the garden last year you can testify to how much more beautiful it is now thanks to all the hard work you all put in. THANK YOU

Don't forget next weeks task will be at Farleigh Hospice at Broomfield hospital and will be a long run so please contact David if you want to come but are worried about the distance . you can meet there or somewhere along the route . but please let him know if you are

Next weeks social will be the pub quiz at the Golden fleece in town on Thursday and there should be more details on that on the website or facebook page. it should be a great evening and hopefully we will win...

And lastly the Baddow 10 is on Sunday the 13th May. If you want to run then please join a few of us who are, but we would also love a cheer squad to help us and other runners around the course. On the Saturday 12th we will be helping Chelmsford Parkrun with some volunteering rolls. If you'd like to do it ( and if they have any spaces left) please contact them and say you are with Goodgym.

Again, A big thank you to all for coming tonight and I'll see you soon

Rich
