This fine sunny Sunday morning, Ellen and Darren ran to visit Mrs J to help her with some gardening tasks. When they arrived, half of the street was outside, trying to get a glimpse of these fabled "Goodgymers" that Mrs J had told them about!

Mrs J welcomed the runners and began to show them round her amazing garden. It was laid out on multiple levels and had two ponds as well as some secret hidden areas and entertaining ornaments! Mrs J loves her garden and she takes great pride in looking after it. Ellen and Darren were there to give her a helping hand with some of the jobs she can no longer do and to spruce things up ready for her visitors next week.

They spent the next 2 hours weeding, clearing leaves, pruning, and trimming in the glorious February sunshine! Ellen commented that it made a nice change not to be in the pouring rain on a Goodgym run! We even cleared the weed and dead reeds from the ponds. No one fell in but just in case Mrs J joked she had her emergency alarm with her and could call for help for us!

We all Stand Together

Mrs J spent a lot of time helping and chatting, she was keen to find more about Goodgym. She took some flyers and is going to take them to some friends and her clubs. She really is a star and even said that we had motivated her to come and do some more gardening which was sweet.

Mrs J was overwhelmed by how much we had done in a short space of time, but it was our pleasure! When we told her we could come back and help more and even do painting etc in the house, she needed to sit down and said “all my Christmases have come at once!”

I am sure some of us will be back to visit Mrs J soon. In the springtime she said that she has so many frogs in the ponds that it is difficult to sleep due to the Frog song!! I am sure a chorus of us will be keen to go back to help Mrs J out……

“Win Or Lose, Sink Or Swim Side By Side, Hand In Hand We All Stand Together”

(for the youngsters, google ‘Paul McCartney Frog song’!!!)
