A sizzling hot summer eve once again, prime for a bit of running and volunteering. Lots of our regulars getting involved plus a few second and third timers in the mix too, a nice combo of old and new!

We spoke to Alice about her mental 52 mile mammoth run, Justin and Siobhan about the GoodGym shindig, Kev and Sharon about their 5k dust up. However, we forgot to mention Beckton Parkrun female winner - Hilary. Love it! Random Weekly Question was "your best or worst sunburn story?" A couple of tales of laddy phallic sun lotion inspired drawings, my story of a stripy tan line bottom due to dodgy pink and black stripy speedos (i was a kiddo). But not much else.. to be fair to James, this question was decent on paper!

A small fartlek type interval on the way to the school got some pulses up. Once there you guys went head first into multiple tasks, see photo evidence. From jet washing outside, to watering the gardens, moving chairs, tables and boxes from the nursery. Shifting a whole shed. Dismantling and moving large wooden beams of planters and also shifting a very weighty pizza oven at a speed of - 0.5 miles per hour, it was really blimmin' heavy though. The power of many with some energy and goodwill never ceases to impress.

We bolted it back, with the relaxed group going through the fartlek this time. Shooting powerfully along the canal-way to a beautiful pink strewn sunset. We even had a drop of energy for a beer and a bite in Hackney Wick. I was politely corrected that Megan does not contain an H in it (are you sure?!), guess it's just me, Siobhan and Bradh representing the trendy bohemian silent H crew. Never again will I knowingly americanise a name.

Thanks for your efforts yesterday team, was a beaut of an evening. Worth cycling down the canal in pitch dark for (forgot my lights).

Look forward to seeing your lovely faces next week at Hackney Adventure Playground. Sign up here

Have another wicked sun-soaked weekend/stay hopeful for some rain

See you soon
