Mission

Opening doors...

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.

All the goodgym missions make a difference in some way or another, but occasionally, when you leave, you feel like you’ve really done some good in the world.

Mr D, due to injury, was confined to his bedroom and not able to leave as the door was flanked by large bookshelves securely fixed in place, and the other access point had a step up.

It only took an hour or so to move the books and bookshelves, making a mental note of inspiring literature we should be working through this lockdown! We were able to free up the access route and get to the door so a wheelchair could move through to the rest of the house from now on.

We left feeling satisfied that we’d made someone’s day-to-day a bit better, and contributed to their wellbeing. They certainly seemed grateful for the help!
