On a sunny Saturday morning, Mikey and Darren ran to help Mrs G clear her garden. They met at 10.30 armed with nothing more than a smile and a PMA. Mrs G and her daughter welcomed and thanked the Goodgym runners for coming to help her. She wanted the front and back garden cleared of weeds and debris to make it look smart and to get it ready for planting.

Mikey and Darren set about the front garden to begin with, they made quick work of clearing the weeds, leaves and moss and even dead headed the rose bushes. They swept around the patio which was tricky, Mike exclaimed “I and can’t get it up with a dust pan and brush!” Soon enough they had filled 3 bags with garden waste. When Mrs G came to check and bring some water she was delighted.

They moved to the back garden and began by clearing the weeds from the Greenhouse. It was getting hotter so to keep the morale high DJ Daz put on some music – sadly for Mikey he only had Ed Sheeran and the Vengaboys on his phone. They put on Ed Sheeran, or Ed Shearing as he was called during this gardening task!

The mission took 2.5 hours but both Goodgymers worked away happily on such a beautiful day – clearing flowerbeds and the patio. Although they did spend a lot time shouting at weeds and screaming in pain when they got caught by the thorns! To Darren’s joy they were there long enough to roll out some of the Vengaboy’s classics! They don’t make 'em like that anymore!

Mrs G supplied some more refreshments and then they finished clearing up and said their farewells before running off into the afternoon sunshine. Mrs G was overwhelmed by what they had done in the time they had been there.
