An emulsional evening

On a still but humid evening in sunny Worthing it was great to welcome in some familiar faces amidst a sudden and thankfully short lived downpour . In arrival order , Duncan ( battered and bruised but still standing with his boxing training ) Barbara, Ros, Paul and Tamsin and finally a soaked Belinda on her trusty bike.

After some route finding discussions we set off in the dry for our 2.4 mile steady run to The Rowan Centre . This day centre offers a specialist service for people with an acquired brain injury (ABI), physical, sensory or memory impairment, physical disabilities or complex needs.

We were met with open doors and a wide smile from assistant manager Debbie who outlined our painting task.

Dining out on the experience - We had it taped

Tonights task was to brighten up the communal dining room by adding different colour paint to all 4 sides of the room. Masking tape , paint brushes.paint pots and rollers were all laid out ready for us and the team wasted no time in getting to work .

Barbara really went the extra mile to ensure her perfect edges by getting horizontal to the task! Tamsin and Paul in true blue synergy worked on the biggest wall.

Ros and Belinda were particularly accurate with their lime lines whilst Duncan and I splashed the turquoise on whilst reliving the royal wedding highlights from the weekend.

Trained experts

The team really went the extra mile tonight ensuring that all areas were covered and all lines perfected before we left.

With thank yous all round and a promise to return we waved goodbye to Debbie and headed off for some running and fitness.

A steady run turned into some doubling back from the front runners closely followed by some explosive lamp post sprints with great efforts from everyone.

Belinda was a great back marker on her bike and got her very own sprints when she went the long way round whilst we headed down the trusty west sussex twittens .

Theres no palace like home

A sweaty messy group arrived back at base where Tamsin surprised us all by actually asking for burpees. :) Go girl ,you rock!

We finished with stretches combined with a medley of discussion ranging from our sea front flower bed watering rota , prosecco drinking next bank holiday, birthdays, red t shirts and also a date for next social.

Watch out next week as I have a new burpee challenge :) :) :)

Looking forward to it already . Have a great week everyone

I love the concept of getting physically and mentally fit whilst combining it with helping others. I run most days.
