Lifting in Style

Stephen , Nicky, Michael and Gosia met up in Southwark this chilly ❄☃️ evening to help Mr R move some furniture around the house. All of this to make a space for a hospital bed 🛏 of his partner's - Ms L, who will be soon discharged from the hospital. When Mr R arrived at home, we were all already waiting at the door, warmed up and ready for action!

First, we moved some stuff out from the living room to make a space for a double sofa bed 🛋. Moving the pillows was a piece of cake, the challenge started when we were trying to transport the sofa frame as it couldn't quite get through the door. This sounded like a task for Michael (who appeared tonight with a stylish Movember moustache)! Purely by coincidence he was carrying a knife / tool that helped us unscrew the legs and put the sofa in the new place. It was a bit surprising for us all though to find out that the sofa had only 3 legs.

The second task was to move a wooden table to the room where we took the sofa from. Again, there was a bit of struggle to get it through the door, so we partly dismantled it. "Smart!" 👌 - we thought at the time. Then we spent a looooong time trying to put it back together mainly because of one stubborn bolt that didn't want to get back to where it belongs. It was taking ages but some of us were really determined to do it right 😊. Eventually, girls lost a patience and left boys to focus on the next task.

The last one tonight was to move a wardrobe outside the front door to get it ready for a collection. Nicky (who impressed us all effortlessly lifting and moving around stuff while wearing a classy, very stylish red dress) and Gosia tackled this one like real pros, including a top-class cooperation 👐 when one was opening the doors and the other carrying different pieces of furniture (and then the roles swapped). They did get a support from boys with the biggest piece right at the end as - by then - they have already managed to deal the table.

There was a lot to do tonight and we encountered few challenges along the way but nothing that we couldn't handle. Eventually, the job was done, the space was prepared and Mr L seemed to be pleased 😊. He shook our hands and thanked us for help just before we left.
