Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
A second run after the clocks have changed and we are getting closer & closer to venturing out onto Wanstead Flats again! Unfortunately tonights task sent us in just about the opposite direction - handing out leaflets at local tube stations.
Trainer James got caught up in work & the joys of public transport, but instructions were left so 6 energetic runners took the waiting leaflets from Extinction Rebellion and split into two teams to cover a bigger area. Jenny volunteered to go to Leytonstone tube station, with Vicki & Kathryn joining her, while Linda & James C joined me at Snaresbrook station.
As always with tasks like this, there was a mixed reaction from people, including the usual confusion reading Goodgym shirts but realising that the leaflets weren't for a gym, but rather an environmental protest next week! It did lead to some curiousity about our special kind of 'gym', so who knows there might be some new recruits! Vicki did have an interesting encounter with a former boxer admitted he swapped exercising for drugs - not the kind of confession one would expect outside a tube station...
Comparing results upon meeting back at base it was clear that girl-power had won the evening, they managed to hand out more leaflets plus craftily put the left-over ones in a couple of pubs on the way back - victory for Team JVK
Good to see James C back, congrats to Linda on her 5-runs-in-5-weeks streak and Vicki for clocking up her official 10th run (actually 11th i believe?) and thanks to Jenny & Vicki for the pictures.
Last but certainly not least, good luck to Kathryn running Brighton Marathon next weekend - looking forward to hearing all about your adventure & seeing your medal!
