'When you go will you send back a letter from America? Take a look up the rail track from Miami to Canada' - The Proclaimers -
With the usual Monday group sessions bringing the Redbridge crew all over the borough, this Thursday evening a few of the regulars made a visit to our little 'home' to do our bit in the upkeep of the Community House.
Aj attacked the overhanging branches to clear up the pavement, with James scraping off the moss & growth to provide safe access to a back door where we previously cut back the foliage. We'll sort out some brooms for next time, the leaves are starting to accumulate in the car park already!
Safe travels AJ, see you when you are back!
As we are moving our group session to another site this week, we will return for a quick task of clearing up slippery moss, weeds and leaves around the site to help maintain this GoodGym base!
Meeting Place: We will meet at Hainault Station - go to the left after exiting the station and we'll meet there, unless it's raining then we'll meet inside the station. There will be place to store bags and a bike in a safe(r) place at the station but don't leave valuables.
What to bring: Please bring suitable weather clothing, gardening gloves and head torch as it's getting dark now.
Task: We will be helping at John Bramston school, clearing the paths and overgrown beds on their allotment.
As usual, you're encouraged to walk, run or cycle to the session!
On Monday evening we helped the Chadwell Heath Community Centre - it was good to explore a new to us site and helped a new community on the border of Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham.
Helene and Vicky were already on site with James, Julia and Jenny (the 'J crew'... ) cycled from Barkingside using quieter roads, which made for a nice cycle and exercise!
Once we got there, we moved furniture like desk, cupboards, a safe (!), boxes of books and toys to their new spaces around the centre. Once we've done that, we moved on to uncover the new IT corner with all computers that were very dusty. It was quite a workout and as 4 out of 5 cycled we decided to call it a night!
A satisfying task with satisfying evening active travel - well done to everyone who came to the session!
New Winter Location
With the winter months drawing in, Track Attack has been moved to Victoria Dock, by the Excel centre in Newham. Our usual track session location (Victoria Park track) can be full of puddles after a rainfall.
We will be hosting a social time trial running event for the following distances:
Please comment on this event page to state which distance you would prefer.
All abilities and paces welcome! Social non-competitive running on a pancake flat, marked course. Trainer Simon will be on hand to mark the course, and to record times.
