Mathematician doing Data Engineering in a media company
Once again, Alex and Nadia at Weavers playground had a variety of tasks ready for us, all printed on a board.
Dharmesh and James arrived from the far North (Redbridge) and worked with John to clear a cluttered room of virtually everything, then bagged up some heavy floor tiles. Together with Eimear, they also constructed a table tennis table (is that really what it’s called?). Eimear had already put together a wooden patio (if that’s what it’s called).
Meanwhile, Hester was painting some animals (stone animals) while the others were on the football pitch, sweeping and shovelling away debris, and using a bendy pipe (that’s definitely what it’s called) to jet-wash the astroturf and nicely clean the yellow lines.
Emma and Srta also took the chance to brush up on their hula-hooping skills, before heading off to a café for lunch.
What we'll be doing
Yep, it's our regular Saturday session to help Alex and Nadia get the playground ready for re-opening.
Tasks may include filling skips, helping break up large poles of wood, painting, constructing decking and doors, and gardening.
What you need to know
You will be divided into small groups to tackle constructing and clearing tasks.
Alex is a brilliant teacher, assisted by Nadia, and will show you the ropes if you're new to any task.
The playground is situated just off Bethnal Green Road, making it the perfect location for post-task coffees!
Area Activator Laura will be joining to take some lovely pics of you all, before heading off to the second task of the day at Ackroyd Drive!
Another busy day at Frenford but we seem to have parcel prep down to a fine art now! Having more volunteers really helped to get through the task in record time, preparing nearly 70 parcels for families in need. It was great to see Helene at the foodbank for the first time and Arjun coming back for a second time (although don't mention the noodles 🤣). And always wonderful to see Linda, James and Kathryn who are old hands now. Keith also dropped in to check out what we were up to, hope to see you on another task again soon 😀
Added kudos for making use of active travel options, with 3 running and 3 cycling to the task. Hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine afterwards!
