Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Patrick Luong
As clocks gave back an hour, Sam and I gave TWO hours to help a neighbour keep up appearances in his front garden by removing bags of prickly brambles
Our neighbour is unable to keep on top of his gardening so the brambles were taking advantage and stalking around like they own the place. GoodGym were called in to help out.
It turns out Sam was already hooked on missions (and hooked on a few brambles, too!) after her first mission last week with plenty of scratches and war wounds to show from the back garden.
Today, I brought the tunes and joined Sam on her return to take on the front garden. Sam was much better prepared for the brambles and chill with full on leggings.
We chatted about marathorns, litter and obviously GoodGym
The brambles were everywhere and it felt like a clown's handkerchief sketch with it going on and on, however much we pulled!
Sam was buzzing with energy and did most of the chopping and I mostly carefully folded and bagged, being careful with the little prickly thorns.
Two hours flew by as we chatted about GoodGym, various running clubs, careers and long run routes. It turns out Sam and I live very locally and have collectively entered the London marathon ballot around 20 times! But not been successful 😔
*We stuffed, perhaps overstuffed, four massive green bags of green waste and a cheeky bonus bag of litter (we had a mini grumble about that!) and brought out our old neighbour to see the "after shot" who was delighted with the rakeover (and so were others in nearby flats).
Nice one, Sam, definitely earned a rest, cuppa and biscuits!
