A bit rough around the hedges!

7 GoodGymers made their way 3.7km to help their local community in Ealing.

7 awesome runners ran 4km to help out in the garden at the Ealing Transition Initiative!

So trainer Liv was away last night so it meant I got to come back to see you lovely lot! And lots of new faces to which is great! We welcomed Hounslow runner Andy to Ealing as well as the lovely Michelle too, hope you both had a good first run with us!

7pm struck so we did a little warm up and headed out through the park. Andy and Mike sped off a little bit and looped back round and we ran the last half as a group. We arrived at the garden and were greeted by the lovely Grant who explained to us a bit about the project and the tasks at hand!

The lads had some hedge cutting to do, Michelle and Emily shovelled some mulch from the other side of the park and brought it to the garden whilst Alex and Larissa attacked the brambles, which is a never ending task in that place! And made all the more difficult without gloves! But these girls were tough!

Snack attack!

Of course the one good thing about brambles is the blackberries! And so many were coming through already (probably because they think it's winter because of this awful weather) so Alex was helping herself to a little snack while she worked! Got to fuel the fun right?!

The boys were cracking on with the hedge, but holding hedge trimmers above your head for a long period of time was taking its toll! That is a serious upper body workout right there!

"Just one more!"

Team mulch were absolutely smashing it, we couldn't get them to stop. We were just about to head off until Michelle begged us to let them run and get one more wheelbarrow worth of mulch. And because we love doing good, we just couldn't say no.

We took a photo by the mulch pile and headed back for a loop of Walpole followed by a quick little bodyweight circuit on the benches! Some step ups, tricep dips and squat jumps which are apparently Liv's fave so hope you feel prepared for next week! 2 round of 30 seconds and we were good to go! We jogged back to the gym, had a little stretch, said our goodbyes and parted ways :)

Thanks for having me last night! It was great to come back and see lots of new faces! Hopefully see you all again soon and thanks so much for all your hard work on the task!
