Our second Community mission of the day took us to Naomi House where we have visited before on our Group runs but not as a Community mission. This visit we had more time to spend helping sort out their stock and store room ready for Spring.

Everyone who attended had also been at Parkrun or beach clean in Southsea that morning so it was a quick change (or spray of deodorant) as we headed north into Portsmouth. There were two tasks that needed to be done today, one was to tag and sort out donations in the stock room downstairs. The other was to tackle the ‘scary room’ upstairs.

Angela, Judy, Mel, Rachel and Tracey stayed downstairs tacking the large pile of donations and sorted these into summer and winter wear, before bagging these back up ready for steaming and tagging. The items were a lot better than last time and most of it could be kept and sorted for distribution.

Experienced tagger Sam picked up the tagging gun and tagged all the items that were to be hung out in the shop. If anyone wants the fastest tagger in the city, she is the woman for you.

Katie and Jo braved the ‘scary room’ and realised it wasn’t haunted but had a weird array of dolls with a large amount of hair. There was however a large collection of Christmas items. which seemed to be never ending. We separated out the room into sections so that items would be easier to find in the future. If you are short of a hat or fascinator or fancy dress items, Naomi house has it all.

During the clean-up we found the perfect gift for Sam a badger puppet, this was appropriate after she recently gained the Goodgym ‘Badger Badge’.

We also found the perfect item modelled by Katie which looked like you may have been eaten by a shark but the way she modelled it put the fin in a comprising position.

We’re back to Naomi House again on 13 March as one of our Group Runs

A busy Saturday for Goodgym Portsmouth, it was well and truly sorted.
