Summer Event - Bute town Carnival

Our Summer event is a bit different this year. We are making our way to Bute Street... I'll be running but you don't have too.

The celebrations begin on Sunday 30 August with our spectacular Carnival Parade, assembling outside Butetown Health Centre, Bute Road (CF10 5HR) before making its way through Butetown to Cardiff Bay. The parade culminates at Wales Millennium Centre, where celebrations continue across the Senedd Steps, Pierhead Building and the waterfront.

Expect vibrant costumes, giant puppets, powerful rhythms, live music, dance and hundreds of performers filling the streets with colour, creativity and joy.

This year’s theme, Heritage in Motion, celebrates the people, cultures and stories that have shaped Butetown for generations. From the historic docks of Tiger Bay to the vibrant community that thrives here today, Carnival honours our shared past while celebrating the creativity, resilience and diversity that continue to define Butetown.

We won't all be staying until the end, this is just an idea of carnival timings.
