Welcome to GoodGym Liverpool
We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Monday evening to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations and projects across Liverpool.
Most Group Runs will be lead one of our fabulous volunteer qualified Run Leaders, but watch out for ones listed as 'Social Runs' as this means no Run Leader is present but we still go out and run together keeping our 'no one left beind' GoodGym vibe in place!
The Task
Care4Calais is a volunteer run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, Northern France and Belgium.
The Liverpool group have asked for our help as they have had a huge influx of clothes donations recently that they need to sort prior to distribution. In order to get the right sizes and appropriate clothes ready to distribute to asylum seekers in Liverpool they need to do a big sort. This will involve taking donations (usually of mixed type and quality) and sorting by gender, size, type as well as quality control into labelled stacking boxes. This allows they to see what donations they have and get the products to people who need them in a timely manner. They can provide plastic gloves if people are uncomfortable touching clothes donations.
The Run
We'll be meeting at the Suitcases on Hope Street for a warm up and a run (with walk option) to the task. What 3 Words meet up link
We'll do an approx. 2k run weaving through the streets to the Care4Calais base at the college on Roscoe Street.
