Ealing Library of Things
We help people save money and reduce waste by affordably renting out useful items like drills, sound systems and sewing machines from local spaces – and by helping neighbours share practical skills.

The Library of Things is a brilliant idea that's been in the Ealing Broadway Centre πŸŽ‰ for 2 years now. It allows people like you and me to easily borrow things that we need once in a while, but don't need to own. That means that we buy less and share more, which reduces waste. You can find things like:

  • πŸͺŸ A thermal imaging camera to help keep your home warm;
  • πŸ§₯ A sewing machine to keep you warm; or
  • 🍦 An ice cream maker to cool you back down

There's plenty of other useful stuff too, like a circular saw, a carpet cleaner or a PA system.

❓ What's the Task

For this week's group walk, we'll be letting the people of Ealing know that LoT is the bright idea that they didn't know they needed! We'll be walking the streets around Ealing Broadway, raising awareness by distributing flyers to nearby homes.

If you're not comfortable running, you can also meet us at the task location in the description.

What if I'm not a runner? 70% of GoodGym members start as non-runners so if you're new to this kind of thing you will be supported by people who are all on the same journey. πŸ‘

What do I need to wear? Most of us wear gym/running gear but this isn't required, so wear whatever you're comfortable working in. Make sure you're prepared for the weather.

Is there a bag drop? No, we don't have a bag drop or changing facilities. If you're running to the task, please only bring what you are comfortable running with.

Do I need to know how to weed/marshal/make clothing packs/etc.? No, not at all. We have someone experienced to guide you at the task, either from the organisation that we're helping or one of our own task leaders.

Don't feel like you're fit enough? Our tasks are simple and fun. There are easy jobs as well as more challenging things for those who want a workout! The choice is always yours.
