Park Palace Ponies
Run as a social enterprise by a group of Liverpool volunteers with a passion for all things horses, Park Palace Ponies first opened in May 2017 as a six-month pilot and action research project in partnership with the British Equestrian Federation supported by the Mayor of Liverpool. Their aim was, and still is, to make horses more accessible to all so that the benefits, both physically and mentally, that spending time with horses brings can be felt by all. Located in the Dingle, only a mile from Liverpool’s city centre, they offer free introductory riding lessons and a learn-to-ride course to any child aged between 4 and 12 who lives within the city of Liverpool.

The riding school is based on the corner of Mill Street and Park Street, in the Dingle, on a patch of grass previously used as a dumping site. The riding lessons take place in the old Park Palace of Varieties building, a theatre opened in 1893 which boasts many of its original features, including an ornate ceiling. You may also spot the ponies trotting down Mill Street every morning to their grazing field on the Park Hill Allotment site.

The Task

This is our first session with Park Palace Ponies and we're excited to be involved with such a lovely organisation. For this first task, the plan is to remove all the rubbish from upstairs in storage take down stairs ready for the council to remove the next day. Remember to bring your gloves as it might be a bit dusty.

The Run

Runners will be meeting at the Suitcases on Hope Street for a 6:30pm warm up and a run to the task. What 3 Words meet up link: https://w3w.co/normal.shirt.builds

If you are not running you can meet at the task location for 6:55pm ready for us all to start the task together. The task location is:

Options are available to run between 2km and 4km in total

Remember that we run to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.

This is a standard GoodGym group run. If you can't run for more than 15mins without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us.
